Václav Čtvrtek
Václav Cafourek (4 April 1911 – 6 November 1976), commonly known under his pen name of Václav Čtvrtek, was a Czechs, Czech poet and author. His most famous works include Křemílek and Vochomůrka, Rumcajs and Víla Amálka. He primarily wrote fairy tales for children, and some of his works have been adapted on the Czech children's television program Večerníček. On 4 April 2011, Google celebrated his 100th birthday by replacing the original Google logo with a doodle celebrating his works for a day on Google Czech Republic. Biography Čtvrtek was born on 4 April 1911 in Prague, Austria-Hungary. However, he spent a part of his childhood in Jičín, the town which later became the setting for his stories and fairy tales. ' (English: ''The Tales of Moss and Fern''), also commonly referred to as ' ('' and '') is a Czechoslovakian animated children's television series produced from 1968 to 1979. The series focuses on the adventures of two forest gnomes named Křemílek and Vochomůrka, who are often dealing with certain problems. It was made by Kratky Film Prague and their animation studio Bratři v Triku. History The series is based on the book with the same title by Václav Čtvrtek. It premiered on Czechoslovak Television on October 6, 1968. The first season was shot in black and white, with the remainder of the series being shot in color. Due to its success, a second season spanning 13 episodes was produced in 1970. In 2014, Česká televize announced plans to colorize the first season by 2017. However, only the first 7 episodes were colorized and shown in 2018, with a 16:9 format being added as well. Jiřina Bohdalová (born 3 May 1931) is a Czech actress. She played over 200 film roles during her career and is among the most popular Czech actresses. For her lifelong contribution to Czech film and theatre, she has received several awards and state distinctions. She is the mother of actress Simona Stašová. Life Jiřina Bohdalová was born on 3 May 1931 in Prague. She graduated from a high school in Prague in 1949 and then she moved to Ostrava, where she taught at a primary school. Then she decided to study acting. She graduated from the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU) in 1957. She is the mother of actress Simona Stašová. Vlastimil Brodský
Vlastimil Brodský (15 December 1920 – 20 April 2002) was a Czech actor. He appeared in more than one hundred films, and is considered a key figure in the postwar development of Czech cinema. One of his best-known roles was as the title character in '' Jakob der Lügner'' for which he won the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the 25th Berlin International Film Festival. He also played the king in the hit children's TV series '' Arabela'' and as Alois Drchlík in '' The Visitors''. His final film role was as a pensioner named Frantisek in '' Autumn Spring''. Radek Pilař
Radek Pilař (23 April 1931 – 7 February 1993) was a Czech artist. He is best known as a children's book illustrator and animator, but he was also a graphic artist, painter, filmmaker and film director. His most famous works include the images of popular fictional character of Rumcajs. Pilař is recognized as the founder of Czech video art and the founder of the Department of Animated Film at Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
