The men's 10,000 metres was a track and field athletics event held as part of the Athletics at the 1912 Summer Olympics programme. It was the debut of the event, which along with the 5000 metres replaced the 5 mile race held at the 1908 Summer Olympics. Records These were the standing world and Olympic records (in minutes) prior to the 1912 Summer Olympics. Hannes Kolehmainen, in winning the first semifinal, set the Olympic record at 33:49.0.
