Vojislav "Voja" Mirić ( sr-Cyrl, Воја Мирић; 7 April 1933 – 23 April 2019) was a Serbian television and film actor most noted for his role as Ahmed Nurudin in the 1974 Yugoslav movie '' Dervis i smrt'' (popularly known as ''Death and the Dervish''). ''Death and the Dervish'' (Serbo-Croatian: ''Derviš i smrt'', Serbian Cyrillic: ''Дервиш и смрт'') is a 1974 Yugoslav film directed by Zdravko Velimirović based on the novel of the same name by Meša Selimović. The film won the Silver Arena (second best film) and four Golden Arena awards at the 1974 Pula Film Festival, the Yugoslav national film awards festival. It was Yugoslavia's submission to the 47th Academy Awards for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, but was not accepted as a nominee. Plot The elder of the Islamic order of dervishes is deeply shaken by the arrest and execution of his innocent brother. In retaliation, the dervish manages to overthrow the ruling individuals, hoping to establish justice himself. Trstenik, Serbia
Trstenik ( sr-cyr, Трстеник, ) is a town and municipality located in the Rasina District of central Serbia. As of 2022 census, the town has 13,476, while the municipality has 35,875 inhabitants. It lies on the West Morava river. History In the Early and Middle Iron Age, the tribe of Triballi inhabited the West Morava. Romans conquered the area in the 1st century AD. Roman sites include the Stražbe ''castrum'' on the right bank of the river, as well as sites in Bučje, Trstenik, Bučje and Donji Dubić, and others still unexplored. Pula Film Festival () is an annual Croatian film festival, established in 1954. It is held in a Roman amphitheater known as the Pula Arena. Pula Film Festival is the oldest Croatian film festival and is usually held in the summer, in July or August. Apart from film screenings open to the public, the annual Croatian film industry awards are also traditionally presented at the festival. The awards presented at the festival (called Golden Arenas) are the main national film awards in the country, and serve as the Croatian equivalent of the American Academy Awards. Fadil Hadžić (23 April 1922 – 3 January 2011) was a Croatian and Yugoslav film director, screenwriter, playwright and journalist, mainly known for his comedy films and plays. He was born in Bileća in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but mainly lived and worked in Zagreb, with the Croatian and wider Yugoslav productions. Biography Born in Bileća in Herzegovina, in what was then Yugoslavia, he went to study painting at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb. Dervish, Darvesh, or Darwīsh (from ) in Islam can refer broadly to members of a Sufi fraternity (''tariqah''), or more narrowly to a religious mendicant, who chose or accepted material poverty.
