''VOID'' is the fifth studio album by the punk rock band Vanna. It was released in 2014 on Pure Noise Records. The album was the band's first release on the record company. It marks a change to their sound, as it is more melodic and aggressive than their previous releases. The band streamed the album on SoundCloud in full a week before release. The album had its highest release and first appearance on the Billboard top 200, with sales over 1800+ copies and charting at #157 along with charting on Heatseeker (#20). This was attributed to their successful performance on the 2014 Vans Warped Tour. Vanna was an American hardcore punk band from Boston, Massachusetts, that was formed in 2004. On December 15, 2017, the band played their final show at the Worcester Palladium. The band's sound has been described as furious and cathartic, changing over time from screamo to metalcore to post-hardcore, with some songs showing emo or melodic metalcore elements. History Early years (2004–2005) The band formed in December 2004 by guitarists Nicholas Lambert and Evan Pharmakis. The duo recorded their first demo in Lambert's dorm room at MassArt, using the program Reason for drums. Soon after, they recruited drummer Brandon Davis (who at the time was playing guitar for the band Therefore I Am), bassist Shawn Marquis, and vocalist Joe Bragel. They then recorded and self-released their first EP entitled ''This Will Be Our Little Secret''. The five song EP helped the band gain a strong local fan base. Beginnings The first issue of ''Alternative Press'' was distributed at concerts in Cleveland, Ohio beginning in June 1985 by ''APs founder, Mike Shea to advocate bands playing underground music. The name for the magazine, ''Alternative Press'', was not a reference to the alternative rock genre, but referred to the fanzine being an alternative to the local press.
