A commune (''comună'' in Romanian language, Romanian) is the lowest level of administrative subdivision in Romania. There are 2,686 communes in Romania. The commune is the rural subdivision of a Counties of Romania, county. Muntenia (, also known in English as Greater Wallachia) is a historical region of Romania, part of Wallachia (also, sometimes considered Wallachia proper, as ''Muntenia'', ''Țara Românească'', and the rarely used ''Valahia'' are synonyms in Romanian). Pitești () is a city in Romania, located on the river Argeș (river), Argeș. The capital and largest city of Argeș County, it is an important commercial and industrial center, as well as the home of two universities. Pitești is situated in the historical region of Muntenia. Mihail Corbuleanu
Mihail Corbuleanu (5 June 1894 – 3 July 1973) was a Romanian major general during World War II. He was born in 1894 in Vlădești, Argeș County. He reached the rank of lieutenant colonel in 1934 and colonel in 1939. Corbuleanu was Military Attaché to Rome in 1940. In March 1943 he was promoted to brigadier general. In 1944 he was briefly in reserve, but then became General Officer Commanding 13th Training Division, Commanding Officer 18th Brigade, General Officer Commanding 6th Division, and again became Commanding Officer 18th Brigade. In early 1945 he was General Officer Commanding 18th Division, but went into reserve that year. He was promoted to major general in December 1946, and retired in August 1947. He died in 1973 in Bucharest. Mircea Diaconu
Mircea Diaconu (; 24 December 1949 – 14 December 2024) was a Romanian actor, writer and politician. First appearing on stage in 1970, and on screen two years later, Diaconu pursued a lengthy career in both formats, working with a series of prominent directors. He acted in some sixty films through the 2000s, and continued to act in theatre during the ensuing decade. He took part in the Romanian Revolution of 1989. In 2008, he entered electoral politics, becoming a senator, and subsequently serving a term as a Member of the European Parliament. In 2019, he ran for president, placing fourth.
