Vladimirs Bērziņš
Vladimirs Bērziņš (born 16 December 1905, date of death unknown) was a Latvian football midfielder and manager and was one of the most capped footballers in pre-war Latvia. Biography Bērziņš began playing football with the mostly German sports club Union Riga in 1925. He was selected to play for the Latvia national football team on 26 August 1925 for a friendly match against Estonia, but he was removed later from the list of selected players. At the end of the 1926 football season, Bērziņš left Union for the three-time champion of Latvia, RFK, where he played the rest of his football career. With RFK, he won the Latvian Higher League title four times – in 1930, 1931, 1934 and 1935. In the second half of the 1930s, Bērziņš played very little with RFK and retired from playing in 1939. The FC Gundelfingen is a German association football club from Gundelfingen an der Donau, Bavaria. A longtime fourth and fifth division side, the club is one of the top sides from Schwaben and has six Schwäbischer-Pokal (Schwaben Cup) wins to its credit. Gundelfingen im Breisgau (Low Alemannic: ''Gundelfinge im Brisgau'') is a municipality directly north of the city Freiburg in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. Gundelfingen is one of the larger municipalities in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district. It consists of the old place Gundelfingen and the village Wildtal, which was included in the municipality in the 1970s. The name means that some Alamannic chief by the name of ''Gundolf'' settled there with his folk. Harijs Lazdiņš
Harijs Lazdiņš (25 July 1910 in Liepāja – 23 August 1988 in Kingston, Ontario) was a Latvian football goalkeeper who played for Olimpija Liepāja and Latvia national football team in 1920s-1930s. Biography Lazdiņš made his debut for the top football club in Liepāja in 1928 as Olimpija Liepāja won its second Latvian league title. In the first year Lazdiņš was mainly the backup goalkeeper behind K.Minsterjānis but in 1929 he already was the number one goalkeeper for Olimpija. Through the entire 1930s Lazdiņš played rarely was replaced in the goal of Olimpija and was considered one of the best goalkeepers in the country. He was tall and rarely made spectacular jumps but he always played without fear and as the first of Latvian goalkeepers started participating in playing outside the penalty area. Union Riga
Union Riga was a football club established in Riga in 1907 and the second oldest club of the country after the Riga ''British Football Club''. It was the winner of the Riga football league in 1910. In the period of independence of Latvia between the world wars, Union played in the Latvian Higher League for several years. Being essentially a sports club of Baltic Germans, Union was disestablished in 1939 with the repatriation of Baltic Germans. Alberts Šeibelis
Alberts Šeibelis (26 December 1906 – 12 April 1972) was a Latvian footballer, one of the most popular Latvian footballers in the era before World War II. In 54 matches for Latvia he scored 14 goals Biography Šeibelis was born in the provincial town Sabile. In 1922 he joined the newly founded Rīgas FK which later became the dominant Latvian football club of the 1920s-30s. In RFK Šeibelis for a long time had to play with the reserves squad, however in 1925 he made his debut with the Latvia national football team which was looking to include more young players. In his first years, Šeibelis played mainly as a forward but later he became a central midfielder. He organized both the defense and attack, and also scored goals. Jānis Lidmanis
Jānis Lidmanis (18 January 1910 – 29 November 1986) was a Latvian footballer and basketballer. Career In the 1930s he was the captain of Latvia national football team for which he made 55 appearances (second result in the pre-war Latvian team) and scored 2 goals. Lidmanis played of the football club Rīgas FK, the top Riga club of that era, and together with Ēriks Pētersons and Sergejs Maģers he made up the center midfield in the national team. One of his strengths was in the hands (he also played basketball and even played for Latvia in EuroBasket 1935), he also performed corner-kicks. In 1944 Lidmanis together with his family immigrated to Germany and in 1949 to Australia.
