Vladimir Salkov
Vladimir Maksimovich Salkov (, ; 1 April 1937 – 9 July 2020) was a Russian- Ukrainian football manager and defender. He was a Merited Coach of Ukraine (1975) and a Merited Coach of the USSR (1989). He is considered to be one of the most legendary players and managers in the history of Shakhtar Donetsk. Player's career Salkov played for the youth team of FC Shakhtar Donetsk, then for their senior team in 1960–1969. Before, he played for SKVO Orenburg and Krylia Sovetov Kuybyshev. Salkov won the Soviet Cup twice (1961, 1962) with Shakhtar. Salkov played for Krylia Sovetov Kuybyshev and Shakhtar Donetsk. Coaching After finishing his playing career in 1969 Salkov worked in Metallurg Zhdanov at first and later back for his native Shakhtar Donetsk. In 1988, he won the Olympic gold with the Soviet team. Donetsk
Donetsk ( , ; ; ), formerly known as Aleksandrovka, Yuzivka (or Hughesovka), Stalin, and Stalino, is an industrial city in eastern Ukraine located on the Kalmius River in Donetsk Oblast, which is currently occupied by Russia as the capital of the Donetsk People's Republic. The Soviet Cup, or USSR Cup (),, , , (Moldovan Cyrillic: Купа УРСС), , , . was the premier football cup competition in the Soviet Union conducted by the Football Federation of the Soviet Union. The 1991–92 season of the tournament was known as Soviet/CIS Cup (). As a knockout tournament it was conducted parallel to the All-Union league competitions in double round-robin format. The winner of the competition was awarded a qualification to the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, unless it already qualified for the European Cup, in turn passed the qualification to the finalist. In case if a team would win the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and not win its national league cup titles the next year, it qualified to the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup along with the new cup holder. SC Rotor Volgograd () is a Russian professional football club from the large city of Volgograd, Volgograd Oblast (formerly Stalingrad). The Russian Premier League (RPL; , ''Rossiyskaya premyer-liga''; РПЛ), also written as Russian Premier Liga, is a professional association football league in Russia and the highest level of the Russian football league system. It was established at the end of 2001 as the Russian Football Premier League (RFPL; ; РФПЛ) and was rebranded with its current name in 2018. Soviet Top League
The Soviet Top League, known after 1970 as the Higher League (), served as the top division (tier) of Soviet Union football from 1936 until 1991. The league's name was a conditional designation used for brevity since being completely owned and governed by the All-Union Committee of Physical Culture (an institution of the Council of People's Commissars of the Soviet Union). The winner of the competition was awarded the All-Union Committee banner. Created in 1936 the tier was originally known as "Gruppa A" and was one of four tiers that were part of the Soviet football championship.
