Vladimir Lutchenko
Vladimir Yakovlevich Lutchenko (; born January 2, 1949, in Ramenskoye, Soviet Union) is a retired Soviet ice hockey player who played in the Soviet Hockey League. Lutchenko played for HC CSKA Moscow. He was inducted into the Russian and Soviet Hockey Hall of Fame in 1970. Lutchenko competed at the 1972 Winter Olympics and 1976 Winter Olympics. Additionally he played against Canada in the 1972 Summit Series and the 1974 Summit Series The 1974 Summit Series was the second competition between Soviet and Canadian professional ice hockey players. Ramenskoye (, ) is a town and the administrative center of Ramensky District in Moscow Oblast, Russia, located southeast of Moscow. 1975 World Ice Hockey Championships
The 1975 Ice Hockey World Championships were the 42nd Ice Hockey World Championships and the 53rd European Championships of ice hockey. The tournament took place in West Germany from 3 to 19 April and the games were played in Munich and Düsseldorf. Six teams took part in the main tournament, each playing each other twice. The Soviet Union won all of their games, and became World Champions for the 14th time, and won their 17th European title. This year did not offer much in the way of drama, with the expected order of finish happening again, and the host not even playing in the top level tournament. 1974 Summit Series
The 1974 Summit Series was the second competition between Soviet and Canadian professional ice hockey players. It used the same format as the 1972 Summit Series, with four games across Canada and four in Moscow. The Soviet team won the series 4–1–3, with Canada's lone victory coming at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. The series was proposed and promoted by the World Hockey Association to draw national attention to the league. Therefore the Canadian roster was selected from the World Hockey Association instead of the National Hockey League. The Soviets won the series 4–1–3. The Summit Series, Super Series 72, Canada–USSR Series (), or Series of the Century (), was an eight-game ice hockey series between the Soviet Union and Canada, held in September 1972. It was the first competition between the Soviet national team and a Canadian team represented by professional players of the National Hockey League (NHL), known as ''Team Canada''. It was the first international ice hockey competition for Canada after they had withdrawn from such competitions in a dispute with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). The series was organized with the intention to create a true best-against-best competition in the sport of ice hockey. 1979 World Ice Hockey Championships
The 1979 Ice Hockey World Championships took place at the Palace of Sports of the Central Lenin Stadium in Moscow, Soviet Union from 14 to 27 April. Eight teams took part, with the first round split into two groups of four, and the best two from each group advancing to the final group. The four best teams then played each other twice in the final round. This was the 46th World Championship and at the same time, the 57th European Championship. In the May 1978 congress many rules were aligned with NHL practices and archaic rules (like changing ends half way the third period) were finally officially abandoned. The games were very well attended, setting a record by averaging over eleven thousand spectators per game. The Soviets wished the tournament to be finished before the May Day celebrations began, so the schedule was moved up one week allowing for less NHL players being eligible.
