Vjekoslav Luburić
Vjekoslav Luburić (6 March 1914 – 20 April 1969) was a Independent State of Croatia, Croatian Ustaše official who headed the system of concentration camps in the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) during much of World War II. Luburić also personally oversaw and spearheaded the contemporaneous genocides of Genocide of Serbs in the Independent State of Croatia, Serbs, The Holocaust in the Independent State of Croatia, Jews and Romani genocide, Roma in the NDH. Luburić joined Ante Pavelić's Ustaše movement in 1931, left Kingdom of Yugoslavia, Yugoslavia the following year and relocated to Hungary. Following the Axis powers, Axis invasion of Yugoslavia and the establishment of the NDH with Pavelić at its head, Luburić returned to the Balkans. Vjekoslav Vrančić (25 March 1904 – 25 September 1990) was a high-ranked Croats, Croatian Ustashe, Ustaše official who held different positions in the Independent State of Croatia during World War II in Yugoslavia. After the proclamation, he served as the Under Secretary of the Ustaše Foreign Affairs Ministry. In 1942, he was Pavelić's envoy to the Italian Second Army. In this role he entered into negotiations with Chetniks, Chetnik representatives Dobroslav Jevđević, Jevđeviċ, Grđiċ and Kraljeviċ. Vjekoslav Šutej (31 July 1951 – 2 December 2009) was a prominent Croatian orchestral conductor. Overview Šutej studied conducting under Igor Gjadrov at the Zagreb Music Academy, before obtaining his Master of Music degree in Rome in the class of Franco Ferrara. From 1979 to 1989 he was art director and chief conductor at the Croatian National Theatre in Split. From 1986 to 1990 he was also art director of the Hollybush Festival in New Jersey, which is where he started his international career. Vjekoslav Spinčić
Vjekoslav Spinčić (23 October 1848 – 27 May 1933) was a Croatian politician from Istria. Born in Spinčići near Kastav, he studied theology in Gorizia and Trieste, and was ordained a priest in 1872. Afterwards, he continued studies in history and geography in Prague and Vienna. He worked as a teacher in Koper, and later in Gorizia. In 1892, after saying Istria belongs to Croatia while in Zagreb, he was fired from his job in Gorizia. Along with Matko Mandić and Matko Laginja, he was one of the most influential Croatian politicians in Istria at the time, a member of the Party of Rights. He served in the Imperial Council multiple times. At the Unveiling of the Gundulić monument in Dubrovnik, Spinčić arrived as the highest ranking Croatian politician from Istria and laid a wreath as its representative. Vjekoslav Servatzy (23 March 1889 – 17 June 1945) was a Croatian Ustaše military officer and nationalist politician, executed for war crimes in 1945. Biography Servatzy was born in Ruma on 23 March 1889. As an officer in the Austro-Hungarian Army he was decorated with the Golden Bravery Medal (). After the establishment of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, he was often arrested as a Croatian nationalist. After the proclamation of the January 6th Dictatorship he left the Yugoslavia and in Italy he was one of the founders of the Ustaše, along with Ante Pavelić. In 1932 he was one of the organizers of Velebit Uprising. In 1933 he succeeded Jure Francetić as commander of the Ustaše's camp Janka Puszta in Hungary. He held this position until 1934. Vjekoslav Perica (born 11 July 1955) is a Croatian historian, journalist and writer who specializes in the modern history of religions in the former Yugoslavia. Biography In his youth, Perica was a basketball player who was a member of KK Jugoplastika's first team, but ultimately found academic pursuit more important than his sports career. He graduated from the Faculty of Law in Split in 1980. From 1985 to 1990 Perica was employed as the secretary of the government's Committee for Relations with Religious Communities. From 1988 to 1991 he wrote a column in ''Nedjeljna Dalmacija'' called "Religion and Politics", and interviewed virtually all religious leaders in the former Yugoslavia. After being fired from his job in 1990, Perica went to the United States where he obtained a MSc in political science (1994) and history (1995), as well as a PhD in history (1998), all from the University of Minnesota.
