Viszló
Viszló () is a village in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County, located in northeastern Hungary. Etymology The name comes from Slavic personal name ''Vęceslavъ''. 1299 ''Wyzlou''. Location Viszló is 70 kilometers northeast of Miskolc, 20 kilometers east by northeast of Szendrő, and 30 kilometers northeast of Edelény. History In 1340, it was the estate of Zalonai Tekus and later became part of the Torna manor. In 1409, King Sigismund granted the estate to Pál Besenyei of Erdegei, the Croatian ban, and István Berencsi (Berenchi). Later, it was pledged to Antal Orros of Becskeháza (Rechasa). It was an estate in Abaúj County. In 1476, Imre Szapolyai (Zapolya), the ispán of Szepes, purchased part of the village. In 1539, King Ferdinand granted it as a donation to Gáspár Horváth of Vingárt, the royal chamberlain, as part of the Tornai manor. After his death, Gáspár Magócsi acquired the estate. Edelény () is a district in northern part of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County. ''Edelény'' is also the name of the town where the district seat is found. The district is located in the Northern Hungary, Northern Hungary Statistical Region. Geography Edelény District borders with the Slovakian region of Košice Region, Košice to the north, Encs District and Szikszó District to the east, Miskolc District to the south, Kazincbarcika District and Putnok District to the west. Rakacaszend
Rakacaszend is a village in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, Hungary. It is located in the hilly Cserehát region. The village is famous for its medieval church. History The old name of the village was ''Szend'', occurring as "Zenth" in old charters, meaning saint. Its church was first mentioned in the 14th century. The landowner of the village was the Szendi family. The village was destroyed after the capture of Buda in the Turkish wars in the 16th century. In the early years of the 17th century it was repopulated by the new landowners, the Lorántffy and the Rákóczi family. Sights The building of the church happened in two periods. In the 12th century the northern nave was built, which later was destroyed and the new building was built by the southern wall of the old church in the 13th century.
