Viry-Châtillon Essonne Hockey
The Jets de Viry-Essonne were an ice hockey team in Viry-Châtillon, France. The club was founded in 1951 as the hockey department of the US Métro sports club, and took on the name OHC Paris-Viry in 1971. The club was dissolved in 2011, and were replaced by Viry Hockey 91, which began play in the FFHG Division 3 in 2011-12. They played in the top-level of French ice hockey from 1971-1987, with the exception of 1975, when they played in the Nationale 1B. They also participated in the top-level French league yearly from 1991-2001. FFHG Division 2 (Fédération Française de Hockey sur Glace Division 2 or French Ice Hockey Federation Division 2) is an amateur ice hockey league in France. It is the fourth of four levels of national ice hockey in France. Teams FFHG Division 3 consists of 32 teams divided into four pools with eight teams each. The Ligue Magnus, currently known as Synerglace Ligue Magnus for sponsorship reasons, is the top men's division of the French ice hockey pyramid, established in 1906. The league operated under a variety of names before taking that of its championship trophy, the Magnus Cup, in 2004. The trophy was in turn named for Frenchman and IIHF founder Louis Magnus. Teams from the Ligue Magnus can participate in the IIHF's annual Champions Hockey League (CHL), competing for the European Trophy.
