Vasilica Viorica Dăncilă (; born 16 December 1963) is a Romanian politician, former leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), and was Prime Minister of Romania from 29 January 2018 to 4 November 2019. She is the first woman in Romanian history to hold both the office of Prime Minister and that of president of the PSD. In 2014, she was elected to a second term as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP), representing the PSD. She was also president of the Social Democratic Women's Organization (OFSD) between 2015 and 2018. Dăncilă became a member of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) in 1996, as part of the party's organization in Teleorman County. Viorica Cortez (born 26 December 1935) is a noted Romanian-born mezzo-soprano, later French by naturalisation. Starting her operatic and concert career in the mid-1960s, she went on to become one of the most prominent female performers of the 1970s and 1980s, and continued singing for many years after that. Early life Viorica Cortez was born in Bucium, a village that is now part of IaÈ™i, into a family with Spanish origins. She is the eldest sister of the soprano Mioara Cortez, and of Ștefania Șerban, a professor of piano. Cortez enjoyed an artistic milieu in her parents' house, finding her passion and intense desire of studying music. She studied at the IaÈ™i Conservatory and then for three years at Bucharest's Ciprian Porumbescu Conservatory. Viorica Ursuleac (26 March 1894 – 22 October 1985) was a Romanian operatic dramatic soprano. Life and career Ursuleac was born the daughter of a Greek Orthodox archdeacon, in Chernivtsi, which is now in Ukraine, on 26 March 1894. Following training in Vienna, she made her operatic debut in Zagreb (Agram), as Charlotte in Massenet's ''Werther'', in 1922. The soprano then appeared at the Vienna Volksoper (1924–1926), Frankfurt Opera (1926–1930), Vienna State Opera (1930–1935), Berlin State Opera (1935–1937), and Bavarian State Opera (1937–1944). She met and later married the Austrian conductor Clemens Krauss in Frankfurt during her time there. Viorica Viscopoleanu (née Belmega, born 8 August 1939) is a retired Romanian long jump The long jump is a track and field event in which athletes combine speed, strength and agility in an attempt to leap as far as possible from a takeoff point. Along with the triple jump, the two events that measure jumping for distance as a gr ...er athlete. She competed at the 1964, 1968 and 1972 Olympics and won a gold medal in 1968, setting a new world record. At the European championships she won a silver medal outdoors in 1969 and two medals indoors, in 1970 (gold) and 1971 (bronze).
