Vincenc Makovský
Vincenc Makovský (3 June 1900 – 28 December 1966) was a Czechs, Czech sculptor, industrial designer and university teacher. Biography Vincenc Makovský was born on 3 June 1900 in Nové Město na Moravě. After he graduated from the high school in his hometown in 1918, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in 1919–1926. He was a pupil of Jan Štursa, who was also native of Nové Město na Moravě. In 1926–1930, he worked at Antoine Bourdelle's studio in France. From 1930, he lived in Brno. In 1944, he married. He had two sons. In 1929–1949, Makovský was a member of Mánes Union of Fine Arts. He founded the School of Arts in Zlín in 1939 and taught there until 1945. In 1945–1952, he taught at Brno University of Technology (that time called University of Technology of Dr. E. Beneš). From 1952, he was an university teacher at Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Nové Město na Moravě (; ) is a town in Žďár nad Sázavou District in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 9,800 inhabitants. It is known as a winter sports resort. Stanislav Hanzík
Stanislav Hanzík (24 July 1931 – 12 August 2021) was a contemporary Czech sculptor. He is especially known for free sculptures, portraits, and realizations together with architects. Biography Stanislav Hanzík was born on 24 July 1931 in Most, Czechoslovakia. During the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia (1938–1945), his family had to leave the Czech-German border region and moved closer to Prague, to Rakovník. Here Stanislav entered the gymnasium and created his first colored terracottas. He returned to Most in 1945 and made the acquaintance of his future wife Květa (she died in 2012). After a year's study at the Pedagogical Faculty of Charles University in Prague, under the tutelage of sculptor Karel Lidický, he enrolled in studies at the Academy of Fine Art in Prague under the sculptor Jan Lauda.
