Vinbräcka Strike
The Vinbräcka strike, also known as the Vinbräcka conflict or the Vinbräcka riots, was a strike conducted by the workers of the mining company Skandinaviska Bolaget (English: The Scandinavian company) in Vinbräcka, Bohuslän. The conflict started when strikebreakers hired from England attempted to carry out the striker's work by unloading stone from the steamship ''Flora'' but were faced with resistance from the strikers. Police were called in to engage the strikers but did not manage to quell the uprising. Eventually, the Swedish Navy vessel HSwMS ''Skäggald'' was called in to restore order. The gunboat bombarded the strikers and landed a small force of soldiers which made the strikers disperse. The Ådalen shootings () was a series of events in and around the sawmill district of Ådalen, Kramfors Municipality, Ångermanland, Sweden, in May 1931. During a protest on 14 May, five people were killed by Swedish Army troops Military aid to the civil power, called in as reinforcements by the police. Lysekil Municipality
Lysekil Municipality () is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Lysekil. The present municipality was formed in 1971, when the ''City of Lysekil'' (instituted as such in 1903) was amalgamated with Stångenäs and the island of Skaftö. Geography Lysekil Municipality borders to the municipalities of Sotenäs (in the north-west), Munkedal (north) and Uddevalla (east). 1909 Swedish General Strike
The Swedish general strike () of August 4 to September 6, 1909, was a general work stoppage by over 300,000 individuals all over Sweden. It was the first major conflict between the Swedish Trade Union Confederation (), and the Swedish Employers Association (). The losses to employers was estimated to be around 25 million Swedish kronor. Recession was having a negative impact on many companies and the SAF therefore wanted to lower wages. A lockout of 80,000 workers in the textile-, sawmill- and pulp industry was put in effect. The LO answered with a call for general strike. Only healthcare workers and a few other skeleton professions were exempt from the strike. Funds were short and forced the union to end the strike after a month, resulting in major membership losses. The LO lost almost half of its members, some to the newly formed anarcho-syndicalist Central Organisation of the Workers of Sweden.
