Villefranche-sur-Saône
Villefranche-sur-Saône (, ; ) is a commune in the Rhône department in eastern France. It lies 1 mile (1.6 km) west of the river Saône, and is around north of Lyon. The inhabitants of the town are called ''Caladois''. History Villefranche-sur-Saône was founded in 1212 by Guichard IV, count of Beaujeu (), and became in the 14th century the capital of the Beaujolais () province. It endured three sieges in the 15th and 16th centuries. The town walls were taken down early in the 19th century. Biography Clément was born into a family of musicians, her father a clarinetist, and studied the violin from the age of six but later quit. Beaujeu () is a commune of the Rhône department in eastern France. It lies southwest of Mâcon and northwest of Lyon, on the river Ardière. Beaujeu gives its name to the famous wine region Beaujolais and the former province Beaujolais (''Biôjolês''), of which it is the historical capital. However it was overtaken in the 14th century by Villefranche-sur-Saône, which remains the main commercial centre of the region.
