Villagrán, Guanajuato
Villagrán is a Mexican city (and municipality) located in the state of Guanajuato. With an area of 125.4 square kilometres, Villagrán accounts for 0.41% of the surface of the state. It is bordered to the north by Santa Cruz de Juventino Rosas, to the east by Celaya, to the south by Cortazar, and to the west by Salamanca. Carlos Villagrán Eslava (born 12 January 1944) is a Mexican actor, comedian, and former journalist best known for playing Quico in the Televisa sitcom ''El Chavo del Ocho''. Life and career Villagrán started off as a photographer for the Mexico City newspaper ''El Heraldo'', with this position leading him to become friends with screenwriter and future co-star Rubén Aguirre. Aguirre had been hired by Chespirito (Roberto Gómez Bolaños) to play the role of Professor Jirafales in the then upcoming ''El Chavo del Ocho'' television series for Televisa. Aguirre held a party for family and friends at his house to celebrate, and Villagrán impressed him after expanding his cheeks out of proportion during one of the party's comic steps. He has a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 200 achieved on 7 July 2009, and a career-high ATP doubles ranking of world No. 115 achieved on 6 February 2006. Francisco Villagrán Kramer (5 April 1927 – 12 July 2011) was a Guatemalan attorney and social democrat who served as vice president in the government of General Romeo Lucas García, beginning in 1978. He resigned from office on 1 September 1980, before his term ended, citing differences with the Lucas administration and disapproval of Guatemala's worsening human rights situation. He then went into voluntary exile in the United States, taking a position in the Legal Department of the Inter-American Development Bank. José Villagrán García (22 September 1901 – 10 June 1982) was a Mexican architect. Career He is known for having developed several theories of Modernist architecture, and for designing the master plan for the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Since drawing has been his all-consuming interest from the age of four, it was considered reasonable for him to attend Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires after high school.
