Vilhena, Rondônia
Vilhena () is the easternmost municipality in the Brazilian state of Rondônia. Its population was 102,211 (IBGE-2020) and its area is 11,519 km2. – IBGE It is the fifth-largest city in Rondônia and has the best HDI in the state (0,771 – UNDP/2000). According to IBGE-2015, Vilhena also had a GDP of R$1.824.367,69(approximately US$460 million), which represented a GDP per capita of R$23.055,20 (around US$6.000,00) History In common with many other municipalities of Rondônia, Vilhena was started in the early twentieth century, around 1910, when Cândido Mariano da Silva Rondon built telegraph posts in the fields of the Plateau Parecis, linking several cities between Cuiabá and Porto Velho. Rondônia () is one of the 26 states of Brazil, located in the northern subdivision of the country (central-western part). It is bordered by Acre (state), Acre in the west, Amazonas, Brazil, Amazonas in the north, Mato Grosso in the east, and Bolivia in the south. Rondônia has a population of 1,815,000 as of 2021. Vilhenense Esportivo Clube, commonly referred to as Vilhenense (), was a Brazilian football club based in Vilhena, Rondônia. The club competed in the Campeonato Rondoniense Série A, in the Rondônia state football league system. As of 2022, Vilhenense is the third-best ranked team from Rondônia in CBF's national club ranking, being placed 151st overall. History In October 2017, Vilhenense was founded by businessman Valdir Kurtz, with the intention of playing in the ensuing Campeonato Rondoniense. The club made their debut in the 2018 Rondoniense, finishing first in the first round but ending fourth overall; it also qualified for the 2019 Copa Verde, but refused to play in the competition. Ernesto Beckmann Geisel (, ; 3 August 1907 – 12 September 1996) was a Brazilian Army officer and politician, who served as the 29th president of Brazil from 1974 to 1979, during the Brazilian military dictatorship. Born to German Lutheran immigrants, Geisel attended military prep schools from an early age. BR-364 is an inter-state highway in Brazil connecting the southeast state of São Paulo (state), São Paulo to the western state of Acre (state), Acre. The highway was opened in the 1960s and paved in the 1980s.
