Fulcran Vigouroux
Fulcran Grégoire Vigouroux (13 February 1837 – 21 February 1915), was a French Catholic priest and scholar, biblical theologian, apologist, and the first secretary of the Pontificial Commission (1903–1912). Vigouroux defended the historicity of the Bible. Life and work Vigouroux was born at Nantes. He finished his education in October 1853. He was ordained on December 21, 1861. After ordination he became a member of the Society of Saint-Sulpice. Between 1862 and 1864 Vigouroux taught as a professor of philosophy, first at the seminary of Autun and then, from October, 1864 to 1868, at the seminary of Issy. In 1890 he replaced Abbot Paul Martin at the Institut Catholique de Paris as an instructor on the Bible, particularly the Old Testament. Vigouroux engaged in defending the historicity of the Bible. Jacques Vigouroux Duplessis, also Jacques Vigoureux-Duplessis (c.1680–1732) was a French painter. He was active from 1699 to 1730, and is mainly known for his Rococo Chinoiserie or Orientalist paintings, and decorative objects and scenes. In 1721 he became an instructor at the Royal Tapestry Manufacture in Beauvais, a post he held until 1726. Lawrence Vigouroux (born 19 November 1993) is a professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for League Two club Leyton Orient. Born in England, Vigouroux has represented Chile as a youth international. Paul Vigouroux (1919–1980), also known as Mathieu Laurier, was a French political activist and anti-communist. He was a member of the Jeunesses Patriotes, La Cagoule, and was secretary general of the Parti français national-collectiviste (PFNC), a political party that was one of the forerunners of the Legion of French Volunteers Against Bolshevism. After the French Occupation by Germany in 1941, he volunteered to fight against the USSR in the Eastern Front with the Legion of French Volunteers. In 1942 he joined Franc-Garde, the armed wing of the paramilitary force Milice. He also edited '' Au Pilori'', an anti-Semitic newspaper.
