Victoria, Texas Metropolitan Statistical Area
The Victoria Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of three counties in the Coastal Bend region of Texas, anchored by the city of Victoria. The area is sometimes referred to as the Golden Crescent Region, though this term is sometimes used to refer to a larger area than just these 3 counties. As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 111,663 (though a July 1, 2009 estimate placed the population at 115,396). Victoria County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 91,319. Its county seat is also named Victoria. Victoria County is included in the Victoria metropolitan statistical area, and comprises the entirety of the Victoria media market in Texas. History Through colonial times Paleo-Indian hunter-gatherers, and later Tonkawa, Aranamas, Tamiques, and Karankawa, inhabited the area before the time of European contact. Indianola, Texas
Indianola is a ghost town located on Matagorda Bay in Calhoun County, Texas, United States. The community, once the county seat of Calhoun County, is a part of the Victoria, Texas, Victoria, Texas metropolitan area, Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 1875, the city had a population of 5,000, but on September 15 of that year, 1875 Indianola hurricane, a powerful hurricane struck, killing between 150 and 300 and almost destroying the town. Indianola was rebuilt, only to be wiped out on August 19, 1886, by 1886 Indianola hurricane, another intense hurricane followed by a fire. Guadalupe County (''Local'' , ) is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 172,706. The county seat is Seguin. Inez ( ) is a census-designated place (CDP), on Interstate 69/ U.S. Highway 59, fifteen miles northeast of Victoria, near the Jackson County, Texas line in Victoria County, Texas, United States.
