Victor Hugo Díaz
Víctor Hugo Díaz (August 10, 1927 in Santiago del Estero, Argentina - October 23, 1977 in Buenos Aires, Argentina) was a Tango music, tango, folklore and jazz harmonicist. Biography Early life Díaz was born to a poor family in the small city of Santiago del Estero. At the age of five he lost his sight when hit by a soccer ball, which led him to play the harmonica. Two years later, after surgery restored his eyesight, he was already performing regularly for a local radio. Musical career In spite of a highly successful career, he remained loyal to his youth's companions, such as the Abalos brothers and percussionist Domingo Cura with whom Díaz recorded on many occasions. His debut in Buenos Aires resulted in a series of record contracts with Odeon Records, TK Records, Jockey and later RCA Records. Santiago del Estero (, Spanish for ''Saint-James-Upon-The-Lagoon'') is the capital of Santiago del Estero Province in northern Argentina. It has a population of 252,192 inhabitants, () making it the twelfth largest city in the country, with a surface area of 2,116 km2. ''The Counterfeiters'' () is a 2007 Austrian-German drama film written and directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky. It fictionalizes Operation Bernhard, a secret plan by Nazi Germany during World War II to destabilize the United Kingdom by flooding its economy with forged Bank of England pound notes. The film centres on a Jewish counterfeiter, Salomon 'Sally' Sorowitsch, who is coerced into assisting the operation at the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. The film is based on the 1983 Czech-language memoir ''Komando padělatelů'' ("The Commando of Counterfeiters") by Adolf Burger, which was published in English as ''The Devil's Workshop''. Charlotte Sally Potter (born 19 September 1949) is an English film director and screenwriter. She directed '' Orlando'' (1992), which won the audience prize for Best Film at the Venice Film Festival.
