VfL AstroStars Bochum, for sponsorship reasons named VfL SparkassenStars Bochum, is a professional basketball club based in Bochum, Germany. Since the 2022/23 season, the club competes in the second tier ProA league. VfL AstroStars Bochum is a departmental club of VfL Bochum. At the end of 2016, it was the sixth largest German basketball club with 555 active players. History Formed in 2011, it is the successor club of VfL Bochum BG and was formed by its merger with BG Südpark Bochum. The club took over the licenses of its predecessor clubs on July 1, 2012, and has been competing since the 2012/2013 season. Since the 2017/18 season, the club's 1st team has played under the name VfL SparkassenStars Bochum. During the 2022/23 ProA season, under head coach Felix Banobre, Bochum fared well. ProA
The ProA is the German basketball league system, second-tier Sports league, league of professional club basketball in Germany. The league comprises 16 teams. Officially the ProA is part of the ''2. Basketball Bundesliga'', which consists of the two hierarchical leagues ''ProA'' and ''ProB''. Before the 2007–08 season, the ''2. Basketball Bundesliga'' was a basketball league with the same name, which consisted of two geographical divisions. At the end of the league stage, the top two teams qualify for the Basketball Bundesliga, and the teams positioned 15th and 16th are Promotion and relegation, relegated to the lower league, ProB. Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court), while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. Gary Earl Johnson (born January 1, 1953) is an American businessman and politician who served as the 29th governor of New Mexico from 1995 to 2003 as a member of the Republican Party. He has been a member of the Libertarian Party since 2011 and was the party's nominee for President of the United States in the 2012 and 2016 elections. He was also the Libertarian nominee in the 2018 U.S. Senate election in New Mexico. Craig Osaikhwuwuomwan (born October 12, 1990) is a Dutch professional basketball player who plays for Flyers Wels. He is a tall and usually plays the center position. Osaikhwuwuomwan is a former member of the Dutch national basketball team. Professional career On August 3, 2010, Craig signed his first professional contract with ABC Amsterdam in the DBL.
