The tall mountain is located in the Jotunheimen mountains within Jotunheimen National Park. The mountain sits about southwest of the village of Vågåmo. The peak of Vestre Hestlægerhøe rises to a height of and has a topographic prominence of . The mountain is surrounded by several other notable mountains including Styggehøi to the west, Glittertinden to the north, and Austre Hestlægerhøe and Nautgardsoksli to the east. The mountain area drains via the river Veo to the north and the river Russa to the south, both tributaries of the river Sjoa. Innlandet
Innlandet is a Counties of Norway, county in Norway. It was created on 1 January 2020 with the merger of the old counties of Oppland and Hedmark (Jevnaker Municipality and Lunner Municipality were transferred to the neighboring county of Viken (Norwegian county), Viken on the same date). The new county has an area of , making it the largest county in Norway after the division of the old Troms og Finnmark county in 2024. The region was known as Opplandene or Opplanda since the middle ages. Historically part of Akershus, Oplandene County existed from 1757 to 1781, when it was divided into Christians County and Hedemarken County, also known as Western and Eastern Oplandene. Vågåmo
Vågåmo is the administrative centre of Vågå Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The village is located along the Otta River, at the eastern end of the lake Vågåvatn in the Ottadalen valley. The Norwegian National Road 15 passes through the village. The village has a population (2021) of 1,487 and a population density of . Vågåmo is home to a local museum, the ''Jutulheimen Bygdemuseum'', and to the historical Klones farm which is also the location of the Nord-Gudbrandsdalen Upper Secondary School ( videregående skole) which specializes in agriculture. The Klones farm dates back to the 15th century and has been the location of the school since 1919. There are also many horses and a store named Jutulbue there. In topography, prominence or relative height (also referred to as autonomous height, and shoulder drop in US English, and drop in British English) measures the height of a mountain or hill's summit relative to the lowest contour line encircling it but containing no higher summit within it. Veodalen
Veodalen is a valley in Lom and Vågå municipalities in Innlandet county, Norway. The long valley lies on the south side of the main Ottadalen valley. The valley begins at the Veobreen glacier, which is surrounded by the mountains Veobretinden, Veopallan, and Veotinden in the Jotunheimen mountains. The valley then follows the river Veo to the east. The valley ends where the river joins the river Sjoa and the valley becomes part of the larger Sjodalen valley. A road runs through most of the valley, all the way up to the Glitterheim tourist cabin, about from the innermost part of the valley. Glittertinden
Glittertind or Glittertinden is a mountain in Lom Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The tall mountain is the second highest mountain in Norway. It is located in the Jotunheimen mountains within Jotunheimen National Park. The mountain sits about southeast of the village of Fossbergom and about southwest of the village of Vågåmo. The mountain is surrounded by several other notable mountains including Trollsteineggje, Trollsteinrundhøe, and Svartholshøe to the north; Grotbreahesten to the northeast; Veslekjølen to the east; Austre Hestlægerhøe and Nautgardstinden to the southeast; Steinbukampen and Veopallan to the south; and Galdhøpiggen to the west.
