Velyka Komyshuvakha
Velyka Komyshuvakha is a village ( selo) of Ukraine, in Izium Raion, Kharkiv Oblast. Velyka Komyshuvakha belongs to Barvinkove urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. It has a population of 561. History During the Holodomor, 389 residents of the village died. On June 12, 2020, according to the Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 725-r "On Determining Administrative Centers and Approval of Territories of Territorial Communities of Kharkiv Region," it became part of the Barvinkivska urban community. Until 18 July 2020, Velyka Komyshuvakha belonged to Barvinkove Raion. The raion was abolished in July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Kharkiv Oblast to seven. The area of Barvinkove Raion was merged into Izium Raion. Velyka Komyshuvakha was occupied by Russian forces for over four months in 2022, including by units of the 2nd Guards Motor Rifle Division. Izium Raion () is a raion (district) in Kharkiv Oblast of Ukraine. Its administrative center is the city of Izium. Population: On 18 July 2020, as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, the number of raions of Kharkiv Oblast was reduced to seven, and the area of Izium Raion was significantly expanded. Barvinkove Urban Hromada
Barvinkove (, ) is a city in Izium Raion, Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine. It hosts the administration of Barvinkove urban hromada, one of the communities of Ukraine. Population: History Barvinkove was first mentioned in 1653. At the beginning of its existence, Barvinkove was a wintering place (zymivnyk), receiving the status of a sloboda in the 18th century. The Cossacks built a wooden fortress on Chumatska Hill, from which they could see all the approaches to the town. In 1680 and 1690, the city suffered a plague epidemic. In 1708, Tsar Peter the Great visited the city, trying to persuade the people of Barvinok not to fight against him, but despite this, the local Cossacks supported Mazepa and fought for independence. In Ukraine, a hromada () is the main type of municipality and the third level Administrative divisions of Ukraine, local self-government in Ukraine. The current hromadas were established by the Cabinet of ministers of Ukraine, Government of Ukraine on 12 June 2020. A municipality is designated ''urban hromada'' if its administration is located in a city; ''settlement hromada'' if it is located in a settlement (''selyshche''), and ''rural hromada'' if it is located in a village (Village#Ukraine, ''selo'') or a ''selyshche''. Holodomor
The Holodomor, also known as the Ukrainian Famine, was a mass famine in Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, Soviet Ukraine from 1932 to 1933 that killed millions of Ukrainians. The 2nd Guards Mikhail Kalinin, M. I. Kalinin Taman Motor Rifle Division is a Russian Guards, Guards Mechanized infantry, mechanised infantry Division (military), division of the Russian Ground Forces. Its Military Unit Number is 23626. The 107th Territorial Defense Brigade () is a military formation of the Territorial Defense Forces of Ukraine in Chernivtsi Oblast. It is part of Operational Command West. Slobozhanshchyna Counteroffensive
On September 6, 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a major counteroffensive against the Russian military during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. As Ukraine announced the start of the Kherson counteroffensive in southern Ukraine in late August, Ukrainian forces also began a second counteroffensive in early September in Kharkiv Oblast, in eastern Ukraine. As the Ukrainian military broke through Russian defensive lines, it recaptured major cities in the matter of days. On September 7, the second day of the counteroffensive, the Ukrainian military advanced over into Russian-held territory.
