Veljko Despotović
Veljko Despotović (1 October 1931 – 6 April 2013) was a Serbian film and television production designer. Biography In 1958 he graduated from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Architecture, after which he continued with designing theatre, film and television sets. Between 1950 and 1962 he was working as an assistant in the art department and as an architect in theatre, film and television. Since 1962 he works as independent Serbian and foreign film set designer. He has done over 150 domestic and foreign movies and co-productions. Zagreb ( ) is the capital (political), capital and List of cities and towns in Croatia#List of cities and towns, largest city of Croatia. ''I Even Met Happy Gypsies'' () is a 1967 Yugoslav film by Serbian director Aleksandar Petrović. The film is centered on Roma people's life in a village in northern Vojvodina, but it also deals with other themes such as love, ethnic and social relationships. Beside Bekim Fehmiu, Olivera Vučo, Bata Živojinović and Mija Aleksić, film features a cast of Roma actors speaking the Romani language. ''I Even Met Happy Gypsies'' is considered one of the best films of the Black Wave in Yugoslav cinema. Plot summary The protagonist, Beli Bora Perjar, is a charming but mean-spirited gypsy, while his former girlfriend, the '' kafana'' singer Lenče, is submissive. This somewhat fictionalized portrayal of Tesla's life has him contending with Thomas Edison and J.P. Morgan in his attempts to develop alternating current and then "free" wireless power. Plot Tesla in a hotel room in 1943 talks to a reporter. He then reminisces about how things would be different if J. P Morgan had listened to him. Tesla arrives in the US in the 1880s. He tries to convince his new employer, Thomas Edison, to adopt his newly invented electric induction motor running on an alternating current (AC) system but Edison claims direct current (DC) is better and turns him down.
