Vedha (composer)
Vedha (S. S. Vedhasalam) was an Indian composer who started working in Sinhala films during the early 1950s when they were being produced in Chennai, Madras. Then he worked mainly in Tamil films. He was active in the field for about 25 years since 1952. He composed music for many films produced by Modern Theatres. He was popularly known to adapt Hindi tunes to Tamil songs. Career He started his career by assisting music directors in films. He was a co-music director in the 1955 film Menaka (1955 film), Menaka along with T. G. Lingappa and C. N. Pandurangan. The first film he was in-charge of as music director is Marma Veeran released in 1956. The song ''Thudikkum Vaalibame'' sung by R. Balasaraswathi Devi in this film was a big hit. Usually R. Kala Suri Alhaj Kareem Mohideen Baig (, ; 5 December 1919 – 4 November 1991), popularly as Mohidin Beg, was a Sri Lankan musician. One of the most influential singers in Sinhala music, Baig is known particularly for his Buddhist devotional music. He was a Muslim who moved to Sri Lanka from Salem in Tamil Nadu, but of Hyderabadi Muslim origin. He was considered a highly influential multicultural figure in the country's arts history. Kele Handa
''Kele Handa'' is a 1953 Sri Lankan romantic musical starring Rukmani Devi, Stanley Perera, Eddie Jayamanne, Rita Ratnayake and Mabel Blythe. It is based on a popular Sinhala novel by W. A. Silva. The adaption was successful due to the book being widely read in school as part of the curriculum and schools brought in students on buses to see the film. It is technically poor and was shot inside a studio though the story pertained to village life. Sinhala ( ; Sinhala: , , ), sometimes called Sinhalese ( ), is an Indo-Aryan language primarily spoken by the Sinhalese people of Sri Lanka, who make up the largest ethnic group on the island, numbering about 16 million. Panchanathan Arunachalam (22 March 1941 – 9 August 2016) was an Indian writer, director, producer and lyricist who worked in the Tamil cinema. He was mentored by poet Kannadasan who was his uncle. He also worked as a lyricist in the Tamil cinema industry. He started producing films under his production banner named P. A. Arts. His son Subbu Panchu Arunachalam is an actor and dubbing artist in the Tamil film industry. Alangudi Somu (12 December 1932 − 6 June 1997) was an Indian Tamil film lyricist who wrote many popular songs in several films. He was active in the field from 1960 till late 1990s. Thirupparaithurai Srinivasan Rangarajan, professionally credited by his pseudonym Vaali (29October 193118July 2013) was an Indian poet who has the record for writing the most songs in Tamil cinema. He is also recognised for a five-decade long association in the Tamil film industry and has written over 15,000 songs. Mabel Josephine Blythe (28 March 1930–27 December 2004: මේබල් බ්ලයිත්) was an actress and singer in Sri Lankan cinema. One of the earliest pillars in Sinhala cinema, she acted in several popular films as well as worked as a playback singer. Personal life Blythe was born on 28 March 1930 in Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka as the second child of the family. Her father John Blythe was a Burgher physician.
