Vedat Işıkhan (born 20 January 1966) is a Turkish politician and professor. He is the minister of labour and social security, Turkey. The Ministry of Labour and Social Security () is a government ministry office of the Republic of Turkey, responsible for labour and social security affairs in Turkey. The ministry is headed by Vedat Işıkhan. History Initially, the ministry was formed as the Office of Labour and Labourers within the Ministry of Economy upon Act of Parliament No. 2450, which came into force on 27 May 1934. As a governmental ministry, it was established on June 22, 1945 with the Act of Parliament No. 4763. In 1983, the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Social Security were merged into the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. In 2018, the ministry was merged with the Ministry of Family and Social Policy (Turkey), Ministry of Family and Social Policy. Vedat Bilgin (born 22 September 1954) is a Turkish sociologist, academic, bureaucrat, writer and former Turkish Minister of Labor and Social Security. Academic life Born in Aydıntepe, Bayburt on September 22, 1954, Vedat Bilgin completed his primary and secondary education in the same city. He entered Hacettepe University's Faculty of Social and Administrative Sciences in 1974. After completing his undergraduate education, he did postgraduate and doctoral studies at the Faculty of Economics of Istanbul University. He published the Genç Arkadaş Magazine for the first time while he was a university student. In 1982, he passed the assistantship exam and went to Selçuk University. He also worked at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Gazi University. During his time here, he also functioned as a lecturer. Mardin (; ; romanized: ''Mārdīn''; ; ) is a city and seat of the Artuklu District of Mardin Province in Turkey. It is known for the Artuqids, Artuqid architecture of its old city, and for its strategic location on a rocky hill near the Tigris River. Artuklu (Kurdish :''Ertuqî)'' is a municipality and district of Mardin Province, Turkey. Its area is 885 km2, and its population is 189,769 (2022). It encompasses the city of Mardin and the adjacent countryside to the north and southeast.
