Vasile Marchiș
Vasile Marchiş (born 22 February 1972) is a former Romanian football player. He is the only Romanian footballer to have won the Finnish championship. Early life Vasile Marchiş was born and raised in Bistra, Maramureș, a small village near the border between Romania and Ukraine. When Marchiş was 14 years old, a Greco-Roman wrestling trainer from Sighetu Marmaţiei, a town where Vasile was attending the high school, noticed him and took him to the gym. Despite performing very well as a wrestler, his childhood dream was to play professional football. After three years, Marchiş went to a football trial at Mecanica, a team from Sighetu Marmaţiei. He was accepted, but his wrestling trainer refused Vasile's request and did not let him to the football pitch. After a talk between the two trainers, Marchiş begun his footballing career. Bistra, Maramureș
Bistra (; ; ; ; ) is a Communes of Romania, commune in Maramureș County, Maramureș, Romania. The Ukraine, Ukrainian border is located to the north of the commune. It is made up of three villages: Bistra (commune seat), Crasna Vișeului (; ) and Valea Vișeului (; ; ). The first documentary mention of the settlement dates to 1411. Etymology and History The name Bistra comes from the Valea Bistrei river, with its spring in the Hodea (Hovdea) mountain peak. The first documented mention of the village's population was in 1882, with 550 people living there. By 1896, the population had grown to 661, out of which 470 were Greek Catholic Church, Greek Catholic, 38 Roman Catholic church, Roman Catholic and 153 Judaism, Jews. In 1913, the village had a recorded population of 672, 511 being Ukrainians. Liga I
Liga I (; ''First League''), also spelled as Liga 1 and officially known as SuperLiga for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Romania and the highest level of the Romanian football league system. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation from and to Liga II. The teams play 30 matches each in the regular season, before entering the championship play-offs or the relegation play-outs according to their position in the regular table. Liga I was established in 1909 and commenced play for the 1909–10 Divizia A, 1909–10 campaign, being currently 25th in UEFA's UEFA coefficient#League coefficient, league coefficient ranking list. It is administered by the Liga Profesionistă de Fotbal, also known by the acronym LPF. Liga II
The Liga 2, most commonly spelled as Liga II, is the second level of the Romanian football league system. The league changed its name from Divizia B just before the start of the 2006–07 Liga II, 2006–07 football season. It is currently Sponsor (commercial), sponsored by Casa Pariurilor, a betting company under the official name Liga 2 Casa Pariurilor. Format Since its inception in 1934, Liga II has had between 2 and 9 parallel divisions, with clubs divided based on geographic regions. But since the 2016–17 Liga II, 2016-17 Liga II, it changed to one group of 20 teams. Currently, the top six teams goes in the promotion play-off, in which the top 2 teams get promoted and the next 2 play a promotion play-off against teams from Liga I.
