Varvažov
Varvažov is a municipality and village in Písek District in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 200 inhabitants. The historic centre of the village is well preserved and is protected as a village monument zone. Josef Bílý
Josef Bílý (30 June 1872 in Varvažov, Zbonín-Ochoz – 28 September 1941 in Prague) was a Czechs, Czech general and commander of the Czechoslovakia, Czechoslovak national armed forces. Early life and education Bílý attended the State Real Gymnasium from 1883 to 1888. Military career Service in the Austro-Hungarian army After completing his studies at gymnasium, he studied at the Austria-Hungary, Austro-Hungarian Army's infantry cadet school in Trieste from 1888 to 1892. Joining the 15th Infantry Regiment in Tarnopol as a cadet in 1892, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in 1894. From 1898 to 1900 he attended the Military College in Vienna, after which he served in the 7th Infantry Division in Osijek (Slavonia), then in Lviv and, beginning in 1906, in Trieste, having risen to the rank of captain in 1903. Otava (river)
The Otava () is a river in the Czech Republic, a left tributary of the Vltava River. It flows through the Plzeň Region, Plzeň and South Bohemian Region, South Bohemian regions. It is formed by the confluence of the Vydra (river), Vydra and Křemelná rivers. Orlík Reservoir
The Orlík Reservoir () is the largest hydroelectric dam in the Czech Republic. It dams the Vltava River near the village of Solenice, which is near the town of Příbram. The structure is named after Orlík Castle, which is situated a few kilometers above the dam.
