Vars, Ontario
Vars is a compact rural community in Osgoode Ward in the east end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. According to the Canada 2021 Census, the population of Vars was 1,579,Population calculated by combining Dissemination Areas 35061119, 35061120 and 35061121 using the boundaries defined in the Vars neighbourhood planning study area. Facilities Vars has St-Guillaume, a French elementary school, two churches (one Anglican (closed, last service November 18 2024,) one Roman Catholic,) and Alcide Trudeau Park. There are a few businesses, including a pizzeria and a pharmarcy. The village’s fire station, Ottawa Fire Service's Station 73, was relocated in 2007 to the south end of Frank Kenny Road. The local youth softball teams the Vars Vipers and Vikings, are both sponsored by local businesses. South Nation River
The South Nation River is a river in Eastern Ontario, Canada. It springs from forests and marshes located north of Brockville, and it flows northeast to empty into the Ottawa River north of Plantagenet. Shows the river's course highlighted on a topographic map. Its watershed covers . This river is called the "South Nation River" to distinguish it from a river in Quebec north of the Ottawa River called the Petite-Nation River or ''rivière Petite-Nation''. The names of both rivers are derived from the French name for the native people of this area, the Weskarini. Russell is a former police village that is part of Russell Township in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell in Eastern Ontario, Canada. It is located immediately east of Ottawa, the city limits of which are just over 2km west of Russell. Ottawa's downtown core is about 40km (25mi) northwest of Russell. The 2016 Census stated that the community had a population of 4,464, making it the second largest community in the township of Russell (Russell's neighbour to the east, Embrun, is the largest community in Russell Township). Clarence-Rockland is a city in Eastern Ontario, Canada, in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell on the Ottawa River. Clarence-Rockland, located immediately to the east of Ottawa, was formed on January 1, 1998, through the amalgamation of the Town of Rockland with Clarence Township.
