Varaždin Arena
The Varaždin Arena is a multi-use indoor arena in Varaždin, Croatia. It is used mostly for team handball, volleyball and basketball games. The stadium has a capacity of 5,000 and was officially opened on 6 December 2008. It was completed to be used as one of the venues during the 2009 World Men's Handball Championship hosted in Croatia. It hosted all the Group C matches which consisted of Germany, Macedonia, Algeria, Poland, and Russia. The arena was also used to host the 2018 European Men's Handball Championship and will be hosting 2025 World Men's Handball Championship. The arena has played host to various events other than sports, such as dancing championships, various expos, school affiliated events, circuses, auto-shows, and concerts. Varaždin ( or ; , also known by #Name, alternative names) is a city in Northern Croatia, north-east of Zagreb. The total population is 46,946, with 38,839 in the city settlement itself (2011). Mate "Mišo" Kovač (; born 16 July 1941) is a Croatian recording artist. He is the best selling artist from Croatia and former Yugoslavia, with well over 20 million records, cassettes and compact discs sold to date, and is often regarded as one of the most popular musical performers from Southeastern Europe. Early life Kovač was born in Šibenik during the Italian occupation of Dalmatia in the World War II as the second child of Zrinka and Jakov Kovač. His mother was originally from the island of Vrgada, and his father was from the Škopinac district of Šibenik. Mišo grew up in a family with his brother Ratko and sister Blanka. Gregorian (band)
Gregorian is a German Band (music), band headed by Frank Peterson that performs Gregorian chant-inspired versions of modern pop music, pop and rock music, rock songs. The band features both vocal harmony and instrumental accompaniment. They competed in Unser Lied für Stockholm, the German national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, and placed 5th in the first round of public voting with the song "Masters of Chant", failing to make the Top 3 with 9.06% of the public vote. Anthony Cetinski (born 31 May 1969) is a Croatian pop singer. Biography Born into a family of musicians in Pula (then SR Croatia, SFR Yugoslavia), Cetinski began singing when he was 15 years old with various local groups. He moved from Rovinj to Zagreb in 1991 to start his career, and quickly became one of Croatia's leading pop stars. In 1994, he represented Croatia in the Eurovision Song Contest, Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest 1994, Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Nek' ti bude ljubav sva". Parni Valjak
Parni Valjak (; trans. '' Steam Roller'') is a Croatian and Yugoslav rock band formed in Zagreb in 1975. They were one of the most popular acts of the Yugoslav rock scene, and have maintained large popularity in all former Yugoslav republics after the breakup of the country. The band was formed by guitarists Husein Hasanefendić "Hus" and Jurica Pađen (both former members of Grupa 220), vocalist Aki Rahimovski, bass guitarist Zlatko Miksić "Fuma" and drummer Srećko Antonioli. Halid Bešlić
Halid Bešlić (; born 20 November 1953) is a Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bosnian folk music, folk singer and musician who has been performing professionally since 1979. Bešlić's singing career was one of the most successful in SFR Yugoslavia, Yugoslavia, and continues today throughout the entire Balkans, Balkan region. Early life Bešlić was born in the Knežina, Sokolac, Knežina village near Sokolac, Bosnia and Herzegovina, while it was part of Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia, FPR Yugoslavia. His father Mujo Bešlić, a military man, died on 1 April 2016 at the age of 83 in a Sarajevo hospital. Bambi Molesters
The Bambi Molesters were a surf rock band from Sisak, Croatia, founded in 1995. They performed regularly in Croatia and all over Europe, often opening for the US rock band R.E.M. They released five studio albums from 1997 until 2013. In collaboration with Chris Eckman, leader of the gothic-americana band The Walkabouts, the project "The Strange" was born. In 2018, after 23 years, they announced on Facebook that they would disband 'It's time for a new era' but did not reveal any reasons.
