Anky Van Grunsven
Theodora Elisabeth Gerarda "Anky" van Grunsven (born 2 January 1968) is a Dutch dressage champion who is the only rider to record three successive Olympic wins in the same event. Along with her Olympic successes, she has won numerous medals at the World Equestrian Games (WEG), and is the only rider to have competed at every WEG since they began in 1990. Between 1990 and 2006, she competed at the Games in dressage, but in 2010 she was named as part of the Dutch reining team, marking a major change in discipline. In addition to her Olympic and World Equestrian Games successes, van Grunsven holds the record for the most wins at the Dressage World Cup, winning the event nine times between 1995 and 2008. She has also competed numerous times at the European Dressage Championships, winning seven individual medals and eight team medals between 1991 and 2009. Marcellus Franciscus Gerardus Maria "Marcel" van Grunsven (4 December 1896 – 24 July 1969) was mayor of Heerlen from 1926 to 1961. He led Heerlen through the Great Depression, the Second World War, and the booming mining years. He didn’t fear personal sacrifice, like salary cuts. The number of VanGrunsven-designed homebuilt aircraft produced each year in North America exceeds the production of all commercial general aviation companies combined. Maria Catharina van Grunsven (6 September 1918 – 1 March 2004), also known as Riet van Grunsven or Riet van de Haterd-van Grunsven, was an armed member of the Dutch Resistance during World War II. One of 21 people who became “ line crossers,” special agents who helped to maintain a secret connection between occupied and liberated Netherlands across the waterways of the Biesbosch and the Merwede, she operated as a courier for part of the larger Biesbosch resistance group, and the Albrecht intelligence group. During this resistance work, she was given the aliases “Ice Block” and “Trouble.” In recognition of her valor, she was honored with a personal audience with Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands in 1946, and was awarded the Bronzen Leeuw (the Bronze Lion), which was personally presented to her by Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands in 1949. Teun van Grunsven (born 30 October 1999) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Eerste Divisie club FC Den Bosch. Career He started playing first team football for RKSV Margriet when he was 16 years-old. In 2018, Van Grunsven left RKSV to join OSS '20. Playing for Oss led to professional interest in his development. He signed with RKC Waalwijk ahead of the 2019–20 season but would only prove to be played for the Jong RKC side, and did not make a first team league appearance in the Eredivisie, although he did score their solitary goal in a 6-1 defeat to AFC Ajax in a pre-season friendly match in August 2020.
