Vallensbæk Railway Station
Vallensbæk station is an S-train railway station serving the suburb of Vallensbæk Strand southwest of Copenhagen, Denmark. The station is located on the Køge radial of Copenhagen's S-train network. It serves the southern end of Vallensbæk Municipality, whereas the northern part of the municipality is better served by Albertslund railway station on the Høje Taastrup radial. List Of S-train Stations
See also: List of Copenhagen S-train lines There are 87 stations that are operated in normal operation on the Copenhagen S-train, an urban rail network which serves the Copenhagen metropolitan area in Denmark. The stations are located on six suburban radial routes - A (S-train), A, B (S-train), B, Bx (S-train), Bx, C (S-train), C, E (S-train), E, H (S-train), H, and a ring line (F (S-train), F). Forty-six are elevated, twenty-one are street level, fifteen are below street, four have different levels and one is underground. Vestbanen (S-tog)
One of the six S-train radial lines in Copenhagen runs along the long-distance tracks on Vestbanen (the railway towards Roskilde and beyond) and provides local train service on its inner parts. The S-trains end at Høje Taastrup about 20 km west of the city centre. History The railway from Copenhagen to Roskilde was opened in 1847 as the first railway in Denmark. The Copenhagen terminus was moved in 1864 and the approaches inside the current Hvidovre station were moved. In 1911 the central station moved back almost to its original site, and the old alignment was reinstated. In 1934 one of the three main tracks between København H and Valby was electrified for S-trains. A second S-train track was also built between København H and just before Enghave; between those two tracks was the maintenance depot for S-train until the current depot at Taastrup opened in 1968. In the railway system of Great Britain, a train operating company (TOC) is a railway undertaking operating passenger trains under the collective National Rail brand. TOCs have existed since the privatisation of the network under the Railways Act 1993. There are two types of TOC: most hold franchises let by the Department for Transport (DfT) through a tendering system, to operate services on certain routes for a specified duration, while a small number of open-access operators hold licences to provide supplementary services on chosen routes. These operators can run services for the duration of the licence validity. The franchised operators have changed considerably since privatisation: previous franchises have been divided, merged, re-let to new operators, or renamed. Albertslund Railway Station
Albertslund station is an S-train railway station serving the suburb of Albertslund west of the Danish capital Copenhagen. The station is situated in the central part of the suburb and is integrated in the adjacent open-air shopping centre, Albertslund Centrum. Albertslund station is located on the Taastrup radial of Copenhagen's S-train network, a hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system serving Greater Copenhagen. It is served regularly by trains on the B-line which have a journey time to central Copenhagen of around 20 minutes.
