Uzbekistan Frontier Service
The Frontier Service, officially called the Committee for State Border Protection of the National Security Service ( uz, Milliy xavfsizlik xizmatining Davlat chegaralarini qo'riqlash qo'mitasi) and commonly referred to as the National Border Guard, is a department of the military and National Security Service of Uzbekistan responsible for border security, part of the Security Service since 2005. Structure Navy A small riverine naval force is operated by the Frontier Service on the Amu Darya river, with two Gurza-class gunboats in service as well as other small craft. Civil Guard In early 2021, the government ordered the creation of civilian border guard detachments to assist the border troops. It recruits citizens between the ages of 18 and 60 who live in village near the national border, and can work on a voluntary basis. National Security Service (Uzbekistan)
The State Security Service ( Uzbek ''Davlat Xavfsizlik Xizmati'', ''DXX''; in Russian ''Служба государственной безопасности'', ''СГБ'', often romanised as ''SGB'') is the national intelligence agency of the government of Uzbekistan. It was created on 26 September 1991 as a successor to the KGB and its republican affiliate in the Uzbek SSR. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, it has retained the same responsibilities and a similar range of functional units, including paramilitary police and special forces. The Uzbek Navy, known officially as the River Force of Uzbek Frontier Committee are the naval arm of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan, serving under the Border Troops of the State Security Service. Gurza-class Boat
The ''Project 58150 Gyurza'' class is a series of small armored gunboats built for the Uzbek Frontier Service. The whole class is produced by the Kuznya na Rybalskomu (Kyiv). The class is named after the Levant viper, , in Ukrainian. The original and modernized classes are developed by the State Research and Design Shipbuilding Center (Mykolaiv). There were only two ships of Project 58150 Gyurza in 2004 for the Uzbek Border Guard and were financed by the United States. The modernized Project 58155 Gyurza-M for the Ukrainian Navy started to be built at the Leninska Kuznya in October 2012. Originally it was planned to build nine such vessels by 2017. The Border Guard Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic also commonly known as the Kyrgyz Frontier Force is the border guard of the Kyrgyz Republic. It is currently a Public Service department of the government of the republic and is not part of any ministries. History Upon its independence in 1992, Kyrgyzstan took command over the former Soviet Republic's directorate of the KGB's Central Asian Border Troops District which was part of the wider Soviet Border Troops, that numbered at about 2,000 mostly Russian troops.
