''Unpatterns'' is the third studio album by English electronic music duo Simian Mobile Disco, released on 14 May 2012 by Wichita Recordings. Cover The deluxe edition of the CD was released with a back to front CD case. The reason for this is that the "rear" cover, which is screen printed with a set of wavy lines, together with the reverse-packed printed CD, form a moiré pattern which can be manipulated by rotating the CD in its case. Release The album was released on 14 May 2012 in the UK. The entire album was also released for free online through SoundCloud on the same day. In February, as a taster before the release, they posted the two-minute track "Fourteenth Principles" on their SoundCloud account. Critical reception ''Unpatterns'' received generally positive reviews from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalised rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 69, based on 22 reviews, which indicates "generally ... ''A Form of Change'' is the fourth Extended play, EP by English electronic music duo Simian Mobile Disco. It was released on 2 October 2012 by Wichita Recordings. History The four tracks were taken from their ''Unpatterns'' recording sessions. Jas Shaw (in an interview with 7digital), on the behalf of Simian Mobile Disco, said that "they were nearly all goers for the album, but we took them off because we felt it made the whole record too long, and messed with the pacing of it." Simian Mobile Disco are an English electronic music duo and production team, formed in 2003 by James Ford and Jas Shaw of the band Simian. Musically, they are known for their analogue production. Ford is also known for his production work. History Early history Simian Mobile Disco originally formed as a DJ duo, on the side of their early four-piece band Simian. They released a number of early tastemaker singles, such as "The Mighty Atom / Boatrace / Upside Down" on ''I'm a Cliché'' and "The Count", on Kitsuné, but gained more fame for their remixes of artists such as Muse, Klaxons, The Go! Team, Air and others. Jamie Alexander Lidderdale (born 18 September 1973, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, England), known professionally as Jamie Lidell, is an English musician, soul singer and podcast host living in Nashville, Tennessee. Lidell was formerly a part of Super Collider. Career Lidell is known for layering tracks made with his voice into a microphone and performing the percussion and melody as a sequenced, beatboxing one-man band. Then over his augmented voices, he sings soul-inspired songs. This exercise makes for energetic live performances. Lidell has become renowned for his diverse range of genre-exploration. Following the release of his 2008 album, ''Jim'', Lidell commented, I want it to be about music, I think every musician does. James Ford (musician)
James Ford is an English record producer, songwriter and musician, known for being a member of Simian Mobile Disco and The Last Shadow Puppets as well as his production work with the Arctic Monkeys, Foals, Florence and the Machine, Depeche Mode, Haim, Gorillaz, Klaxons, Jessie Ware and Kylie Minogue. Biography Ford went to Manchester University, along with other members of Simian. Ford was a founding member of the group Simian and later a member the spin-off duo Simian Mobile Disco. He produced the Klaxons album '' Myths of the Near Future'' in 2007 which won the Mercury Prize. He also played drums on the album. Also that year, he produced the Arctic Monkeys second album. He has done at least part of the production on each of the band's subsequent albums. He played guitar on Arctic Monkeys' "Only Ones Who Know". Delicacies (album)
''Delicacies'' is a compilation album by British electronic band Simian Mobile Disco. It was released on the iTunes Store on 23 November 2010, and released in physical form on 29 November 2010. It is a collection of tracks inspired and named for various unusual foods the band have sampled while touring the world, hence the name. History During the introduction of their Essential Mix made for Radio 1, broadcast on 9 January 2010, they gave hints on what would be a "techno-based album" expected for later in 2010. Since then, the duo also established a quarterly residency to JDH and Dave P’s Fixed nights, in New York City. In March 2010 the duo announced their new club night project Delicatessen, curated by the duo and accompanied by what they said to be "a brand new imprint" entitled Delicacies. ''Attack Decay Sustain Release'' is the debut album from Simian Mobile Disco. It was released on June 18, 2007 on Wichita Recordings and reached #59 in the UK album charts. History The title of the album is a reference to the ADSR envelope, a component of many synthesizers, samplers, and other electronic musical instruments the function of which is to modulate some aspect of the instrument's sound—often its volume—over time. Five of the album's ten tracks ("Hustler", "Tits & Acid", "I Believe", "Hotdog" and lead single "It's The Beat") were available prior to the album's release. A double-disc version of the album contains six alternate versions on a separate CD. Initial copies bought from Rough Trade Shops came with a bonus 4-track rarities CD. Standard Score
In statistics, the standard score is the number of standard deviations by which the value of a raw score (i.e., an observed value or data point) is above or below the mean value of what is being observed or measured. Weighted Mean
The weighted arithmetic mean is similar to an ordinary arithmetic mean (the most common type of average), except that instead of each of the data points contributing equally to the final average, some data points contribute more than others. The notion of weighted mean plays a role in descriptive statistics and also occurs in a more general form in several other areas of mathematics. If all the weights are equal, then the weighted mean is the same as the arithmetic mean. While weighted means generally behave in a similar fashion to arithmetic means, they do have a few counterintuitive properties, as captured for instance in Simpson's paradox. Femur
The femur (; ), or thigh bone, is the proximal bone of the hindlimb in tetrapod vertebrates. The iTunes Store is a digital media store operated by Apple Inc. It opened on April 28, 2003, as a result of Steve Jobs' push to open a digital marketplace for music. As of April 2020, iTunes offered 60 million songs, 2.2 million apps, 25,000 TV shows, and 65,000 films. When it opened, it was the only legal digital catalog of music to offer songs from all five major record labels. The iTunes Store is available on most Apple devices, including the Mac (inside the Music app), the iPhone, the iPad, the iPod touch, and the Apple TV, as well as on Windows (inside iTunes). Graphic violence refers to the depiction of especially vivid, brutal and realistic acts of violence in visual media such as film, television, and video games. It may be real, simulated live action, or animated. Intended limitedly for mature audience, the "graphic" in graphic violence is a synonym for "explicit", referring to the clear and unabashed nature of the violence portrayed. Media Graphic violence generally consists of any clear and uncensored depiction of various violent acts. Commonly included depictions include murder, assault with a deadly weapon, accidents which result in death or severe injury, suicide, and torture. In all cases, it is the explicitness of the violence and the injury inflicted which results in it being labeled "graphic".
