The University of Baghdad (UOB) ( ar, جامعة بغداد ''Jāmi'at Baghdād'') is the largest university in Iraq, tenth largest in the Arab world, and the largest university in the Arab world outside Egypt. Nomenclature Both University of Baghdad and Baghdad University are used interchangeably. History The College of Islamic Sciences claims that it originated in 1067 A.D. as Abu-Haneefa. Saadoun al-Dulaimi ( ar, سعدون الدليمي ''Saʿadūn ad-Dulaimī'') (born 1954) is an Iraqi politician, the ex-minister of defence for two terms, ex-minister of culture, and a former MP for two consecutive terms. Early life and education Saadoun Al-Dulaimi was born in Al-Anbar in 1954. He holds a master's degree in sociology from the University of Baghdad in 1979, and a PhD in social psychology from the United Kingdom in 1990. Emad Zaki Yehya (May 12, 1955 – August 3, 2016) (Arabic:), was born in Baghdad. He was an Iraqi petroleum engineer, author, scholar, and a PhD lecturer at Simón Bolívar University in Caracas, Venezuela Biography Dr. Yehya was born in Baghdad, Iraq on May 12, 1955 to parents from the northern part of Iraq of Mosul. Muthaffar al-Nawab or Muzaffar al-Nawwab (; 1 January 1934 – 20 May 2022) was an Iraqi poet and political critic. Abd Al-Rahman Al-Bazzaz
Abd al-Rahman al-Bazzaz (Arabic: عبد الرحمن البزاز; 20 February 1913 – 28 June 1973) was an Iraqi politician, reformist and writer. He was a pan-Arab nationalist and served as the Dean of Baghdad Law College and later as Prime Minister of Iraq. Al-Bazzaz main political project was the professionalization of the government through increasing access to civilian expertise. That civic agenda came at the expense of the military. Al-Bazzaz was charged by the Ba'athist-dominated government of participation in activities against the government and he was tortured and imprisoned. Al-Bazzaz was finally released because of illness in 1970 and moved to London for treatment before later dying in Baghdad on 28 June 1973. Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik ( ar, هشام بن عبد الملك, Hishām ibn ʿAbd al-Malik; 691 – 6 February 743) was the tenth Umayyad caliph, ruling from 724 until his death in 743.
