United States Public Service Academy
The United States Public Service Academy (S. 960 and H.R. 1671) is a proposed institution of higher education. The Academy would be a federally subsidized four-year college modeled on the United States military service academies devoted to public service. It was envisioned in 2006 and introduced into congress in 2007 and again in the next congress but did not pass. The proposed academy Academics *Applicants to the Academy would follow a congressional nomination process similar to that used for admission to the US service academies. *Once admitted, students would earn credits toward a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. Alasdair Roberts (academic)
Alasdair S. Roberts (born 1961) is a Canadian professor at the School of Public Policy, University of Massachusetts Amherst, and author of articles and books on public policy issues, especially relating to government secrecy and the exercise of government authority. Education Alasdair Roberts was born in New Liskeard, Ontario, Canada and grew up in Pembroke, Ontario, Canada, where he graduated from Fellowes High School. He began his BA in politics at Queen's University in 1979. He received a JD from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law in 1984, a master's degree in public policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 1986, and a Ph.D. in public policy from Harvard University in 1994. David Michael Van Slyke (born 1968) is an American academic and the Dean of the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. He is the professor of government and policy affairs and Louis A. Bantle Chair in Business-Government Policy. He previously taught at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University.
