Utsab
''Utsab'', also written Utsav (, ) is a 2000 Cinema of West Bengal, Bengali-language drama film directed by Rituparno Ghosh and stars Madhabi Mukherjee, Mamata Shankar, Rituparna Sengupta, Prasenjit Chatterjee, Pradip Mukherjee, Deepankar De and Arpita Pal. The film focuses on the various emotional currents passing among family and relatives underneath the supposedly festive occasion of Durga Puja. Plot This is a family drama which is portrayed against the backdrop of Durga Puja, West Bengal's biggest festival. The story is about a cultured Bengali family, different members that have gathered in their native house on the occasion of Durga puja. Bhagabati has four children: two sons Asit and Nishith and two daughters Parul and Keya. It is festival time and all the children are at the main house to celebrate. Rituparno Ghosh
Rituparno Ghosh (; 31 August 1963 – 30 May 2013) was an Indian film director, actor, writer and lyricist. After pursuing a degree in economics, he started his career as a creative artist at an advertising agency. He received recognition for his second feature film ''Unishe April'' which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film. Having won 19 National Awards, along with his contemporaries Aparna Sen and Goutam Ghose, Rituparno heralded contemporary Cinema of West Bengal, Bengali cinema to greater heights. Ghosh died on 30 May 2013 in Kolkata after a heart attack. Ghosh was also one of the openly homosexual personalities in Indian cinema. Ghosh was influenced by the works of Satyajit Ray and was an avid reader of Rabindranath Tagore. Tagore's works are frequently referenced to in his films. Pradip Mukherjee, also known as Pradip Mukhopadhyay (11 August 1946 – 29 August 2022), was an Indian actor and dramatist who primarily acted in Cinema of West Bengal, Bengali movies. Although not famous for acting in mainstream movies, Pradip Mukherjee received critical acclaim for his acting in movies like Satyajit Ray's ''Jana Aranya'', Buddhadeb Dasgupta's ''Dooratwa'', and Rituparno Ghosh's ''Utsab''. Madhabi Mukherjee
Madhabi Chakraborty (née Mukherjee) is an Indian actress. Considered to be one of the greatest actresses of Bengali cinema, she has acted in some of the most critically acclaimed films in Bengali cinema. Alokananda Roy is an Indian actress known for her work in Bengali cinema and theatre. She made her thespian debut at the age of seven in the 1951 and later on became part of numerous Bengali plays.
