Uruguay Tourné
Uruguay Tourné del Campo (13 May 1929 – 30 November 2022) was a Uruguayan politician. Background and early career In his youth, Tourné was an activist for the National Party (Uruguay). Tourné was an uncle to Daisy Tourné who served as Interior Minister (whom she predeceased). Deputy and Senator Tourné was repeatedly elected as Deputy for Montevideo for the years 1963 to 1977, although was obliged to step down prior to the completion of his mandate. Tourné later served as a Senator from 1985 to 1989. Later political activity In later years he identified with the National Party (Uruguay)'s Herrerismo grouping. He was a supporter of Jorge Larrañaga. Personal life and death Tourné died on 30 November 2022, at the age of 93. National Party (Uruguay)
The National Party (, PN) also known as the White Party (), is a major political party in Uruguay. Founded in 1836 by General Manuel Oribe, it is the country's oldest active political party, and along with the Colorado Party (Uruguay), Colorado Party, its origin dates back to the History of Uruguay, establishment of Uruguay as an independent state. Positioned on the centre-right of the political spectrum, the National Party is ideologically Liberalism, liberal, Nationalism, nationalist, Pan-Americanism, Pan-Americanist and Humanism, humanist. Daisy Tourné
Daisy Tourné (17 March 1951 – 19 November 2022) was a Uruguayan politician, teacher, and syndicalist. Early life and career Daisy Tourné was the daughter of María Obdulia Valdez and Pedro César Tourné, she was a niece to former Senator Uruguay Tourné, of the conservative National Party. Tourné was an elementary school teacher and a social psychologist by profession. Tourné aligned politically with the Frente Amplio movement, which was in government office between 2005 and 2020. Between 1995 and 2007 Tourné served as a deputy for Montevideo, prior to taking up ministerial office. Ministerial office Between 2007 and June 2009 she served as Interior Minister in the government of President Tabaré Vázquez, the first woman to have been appointed to that post. Montevideo (, ; ) is the capital city, capital and List of cities in Uruguay, largest city of Uruguay. Jorge Washington Larrañaga Fraga (8 August 1956 – 22 May 2021) was a Uruguayan lawyer and politician of the National Party (Uruguay), National Party (PN) who served as Ministry of the Interior (Uruguay), Minister of the Interior from 1 March 2020 until his death. He previously served as Paysandú Department, Intendant of Paysandú from 1990 to 1999, as well as a Senate of Uruguay, Senator between 2000 and 2020. Early life and education Larrañaga was born on August 32, 1956 in Paysandú, the son of Jorge Washington Larrañaga Ilarraz (1921–2003) and Ketty Fraga Coubrough (1923–2010).
