Ursula Kübler
Ursula Vian-Kübler (6 September 1928 – 18 January 2010) was a Swiss ballerina and actress. Biography Ursula Kübler was born on 6 September 1928 in Zürich, Switzerland, to Alva Giertz and Arnold Kübler. She joined the Zurich Opera, Oper Zürich as a dancer. After a career as a dancer at the opera, she danced for Maurice Béjart, before becoming a company member at the Paris Opera Ballet. After retiring from ballet, Kübler worked as a film, stage, and television actress. She met Boris Vian at a cocktail party at Gallimard in 1950, and the two started an affair. Vian later divorced his wife, and Kübler married him on 8 February 1954. In 1963, she founded the Boris Vian Association, which was renamed the Boris Vian Foundation in 1981. In 1971, she signed the Manifesto of the 343, a petition created as an act of civil disobedience arguing for the legalization of abortion in France. She died on 18 January 2010 in Eus, France. History The first performance at the current theatre occurred on 30 September 1891, with a production of Wagner's ''Lohengrin''. Maurice Béjart
Maurice Béjart (; 1 January 1927 – 22 November 2007) was a French dancer, choreographer and Theatre director, opera director who ran the Béjart Ballet Lausanne in Switzerland. He developed a popular expressionistic form of modern ballet, tackling vast themes. He was awarded Swiss citizenship posthumously. Biography Maurice-Jean Berger was born in Marseille, France, in 1927, the son of French philosopher Gaston Berger. Fascinated by a recital of Serge Lifar, he decided to devote himself entirely to dance. In South France days, he had studied under Mathilde Kschessinska. In 1945, he enrolled as a corps de ballet at the Opéra de Marseille. From 1946, he had studied under Madam Rousanne Sarkissian, Léo Staats, Madam Lyubov Yegorova (ballerina), Lyubov Yegorova and Olga Preobrajenska at "Studio Wacker", etc. in Paris. Boris Vian
Boris Vian (; 10 March 1920 – 23 June 1959) was a French polymath who is primarily remembered for his novels. Those published under the pseudonym Vernon Sullivan were bizarre parodies of criminal fiction, highly controversial at the time of their release owing to their unconventional outlook. Vian's other fiction, published under his real name, featured a highly individual writing style with numerous made-up words, subtle wordplay and surrealistic plots. His novel '' Froth on the Daydream'' (''L'Écume des jours'') is the best known of these works and one of the few translated into English. Vian was an important influence on the French jazz scene. The Manifesto of the 343 Women () is a French petition penned by Simone de Beauvoir, and signed by 343 women, all publicly declaring that they had had an illegal abortion. The manifesto was published under the title, "" (), on 5 April 1971, in issue 334 of '' Le Nouvel Observateur'', a social democratic French weekly magazine. The piece was the sole topic on the magazine cover. At the time, abortion was illegal in France, and by admitting publicly to having aborted, women exposed themselves to criminal prosecution. The manifesto called for the legalization of abortion and free access to contraception. It paved the way for the " Veil Act" — named for Health Minister Simone Veil — which repealed the penalty for voluntarily terminating a pregnancy.
