''Urena'' is the genus of plants, which grow in various tropical and subtropical areas worldwide, although several species are Asian in origin. Some view ''Urena lobata'' as a weed, but others make use of its fibre for various purposes. The leaves and flowers are also a famine food in Africa. Its seeds are spread by animals. José Miguel Ureña Rodríguez (born September 12, 1991) is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher in the Minnesota Twins organization. Juan Rafael Estrella Ureña (10 November 1889 – 25 May 1945) was a Dominican politician and lawyer who served as the 21st vice president of the Dominican Republic under President Rafael Trujillo from 1930 until his resignation in 1932. He previously served as the acting president from March to April 1930, where his term was briefly interrupted Jacinto Peynado until the following month where Ureña retained the role and served until Trujillo's accession to the presidency in August. Biography Early works Pedro Henríquez Ureña was born in Santo Domingo, the third of four siblings. Henríquez's father was Francisco Henríquez y Carvajal, a doctor and politician who was also an intellectual who maintained permanent contact with the most important representatives of the Hispanic Modernism movements from the early 20th century. Henríquez Carvajal would become president of the Republic for a brief period in 1916, before the American occupation. He descended from Jews who immigrated in the 19th century from Curaçao. Leopoldo Enrique García-Alas y Ureña (25 April 1852 – 13 June 1901), also known as Clarín, was a Spanish realist novelist and journalist born in Zamora. ''Urena lobata'', commonly known as Caesarweed or Congo jute, is a tender perennial, variable, erect, ascendant shrub or subshrub measuring up to to tall. The stems are covered with minute, star-like hairs and often tinged purple. Considered a weed, it is considered to be native throughout much of the tropical and subtropical world, including South and Central America, Africa, Asia and Pacific Islands. Description Each individual plant grows as a single stalk that freely sends out bushy stems. The leaf shape is palmately lobed (having lobes that spread out like fingers on a hand).
