Upper Sûre Natural Park
The Upper Sûre Natural Park (, , ) is a national park in the Éislek region of north-western Luxembourg. Environment The heart of the park is the Upper Sûre Lake, the largest area of water in Luxembourg. It is primarily an area of conservation and a specially protected area for wild birds. The park has been designated an Important Bird Area (IBA) by BirdLife International because it supports significant populations of hazel grouse, black storks, ospreys, European honey-buzzards and middle spotted woodpeckers. Objectives The objectives of the park are threefold: *To protect the natural environment and ecosystem. The main principle underlying ecosystem protection in the park is that the environment is an integral network in which each element interacts and affects the functioning of the while. Ramsar Convention
The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance Especially as Waterfowl Habitat is an international treaty for the conservation and sustainable use of Ramsar site, Ramsar sites (wetlands). It is also known as the Convention on Wetlands. It is named after the city of Ramsar, Mazandaran, Ramsar in Iran, where the convention was signed in 1971. Every three years, representatives of the contracting parties meet as the Ramsar Convention#Conference of the Contracting Parties, Conference of the Contracting Parties (COP), the policy-making organ of the wetland conservation, convention which adopts decisions (site designations, resolutions and recommendations) to administer the work of the convention and improve the way in which the parties are able to implement its objectives.
