Deendayal Upadhyaya
Deendayal Upadhyaya (25 September 1916 – 11 February 1968), known by the epithet Panditji, was an Indian politician, a proponent of integral humanism ideology and leader of the political party Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS), the forerunner of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Upadhyaya started the monthly publication ''Rashtra Dharma'', broadly meaning 'National Duties', in the 1940s to spread the ideals of Hindutva revival. Upadhyaya is known for drafting Jan Sangh's official political doctrine, ''Integral humanism'', by including some cultural-nationalism values and his agreement with several Gandhian socialist principles such as sarvodaya (progress of all) and swadeshi (self-sufficiency). Brahmabandhav Upadhyay (born ''Bhavani Charan Bandyopadhyay'') (11 February 1861 – 27 October 1907) was an Indian Bengali theologian, journalist and freedom fighter. He was closely attached with Keshub Chandra Sen, classmate of Swami Vivekananda and close acquaintance of Rabindranath Tagore. Hema Upadhyay (born Hema Hirani; 1972 – 11 December 2015) was an Indian visual artist, based in Mumbai. She was known for photography and sculptural installations. She was active from 1998 until her death in 2015. Early life and marriage Born Hema Hirani on May 18, 1972, in Vadodra, Gujarat, India. She graduated from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda with a BFA degree in 1995 in painting, and a MFA degree in 1997 in printmaking. Chintan Upadhyay (born 1972) is an Indian visual artist, and convicted murderer. He began his art career as a painter, but later created sculptures and installations. His best known sculpture project is perhaps the Pet Shop project, which is an ongoing production of a "model baby" for every season, ''Baby Fetish''. Samrat Upadhyay (, born 1964) is a Nepalese born American writer who writes in English. Upadhyay is a professor of creative writing and has previously served as the director of the Creative Writing Program at Indiana University Bloomington. He is the first Nepali-born fiction writer writing in English to be published in the West. He was born and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal, and came to the United States in 1984 at the age of twenty-one. Ramveer Upadhyay (1 August 1957 – 2 September 2022) was an Indian politician and a member of the 17th Legislative Assembly of the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. He represented the Sadabad constituency of Uttar Pradesh as a member of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) political party. Previously he represented the Sikandra Rao and Hathras constituencies, being member of the assembly four times in the process.
