Universitario De Popayán
Club Universitario de Deportes is a Peruvian sports club based in Lima, which has soccer as its main activity. It also has women's football, volleyball and basketball sections. The football team, popularly known as Universitario, has competed in the top tier of Peruvian football, the Peruvian Primera División (Liga 1), since 1928. They are the most successful team in Peruvian football with 28 titles and have never been relegated. The club was founded in August 1924 under the name Federación Universitaria by students of the National University of San Marcos but was forced to rename it in 1931. The club won its first Peruvian title in 1929, one year after its debut in the first division. The club won its first double in the 1945 and 1946 seasons and won its only treble after conquering the 2000 season. Estadio Monumental "U"
The Estadio Monumental (''Monumental Stadium'') is a association football, football stadium in the district of Ate District, Ate in Lima, Peru. It is the home of Club Universitario de Deportes, and it was opened in 2000 to replace the Estadio Teodoro Lolo Fernandez. Its only legal owner is the club itself. Designed by Progreso International and Gremco S.A., Uruguayan architect Walter Lavalleja Sarriés led the construction of the stadium. At the time of its construction, it became Peru's largest stadium and also the List of South American stadiums by capacity, second largest in South America. The stadium was built in accordance with FIFA’s manual of technical specifications for FIFA World Cup, World Cup finals. Plácido Reynaldo Galindo Pardo''(9 March 1906 – 22 October 1988) was a Peruvian football midfielder who played for Peru in the 1930 FIFA World Cup, where he also became the first ever player sent off in a World Cup match. Estadio Teodoro Lolo Fernández
Estadio Teodoro Lolo Fernández is a stadium in Lima, Peru, built in the 1950s and opened on July 20, 1952. It is owned by the football club Universitario de Deportes, being their first stadium; one stand in the west for 4,000 spectators brought from the Estadio Nacional. The inauguration game saw Universitario play Universidad de Chile where they won 4-2; Lolo Fernández scored three goals. Universitario then bought a stand from the Peruvian Basketball Federation which served as the northern stand; capacity of 5,000 spectators. They finally built the eastern stand for a capacity of 6,000 spectators. This reached a maximum capacity of 15,000. However the Estadio Lolo Fernández was not used for more important games.
