Ungmennafélag Bolungarvíkur (, ), also known as simply UMFB or Bolungarvík, is a multi-sport club based in Bolungarvík, Iceland. It was founded on 1 April 1907 and its first chairman was Jóhann Jónsson. During its history it has had departments in basketball, chess, Esports, football, skiing and swimming amongst others. Basketball Men's basketball History UMFB's basketball department was founded in 1989. It played in the second-tier 1. deild karla during the 1989–1990 season, finishing 9th. In 1992, it won the 2. deild karla after beating Gnúpverjar in the playoffs. ÍFL had originally defeated UMFB during the group stage of the playoffs and Gnúpverjar in the finals. However, ÍFL had used an illegal player and as an result of an official complaint, UMFB was awarded a 2–0 victory which meant they finished with the best record in their group and faced Gnúpverjar in the finals rematch. Bolungarvík
Bolungarvík (, regionally also ) is a small town and the only built-up area in the municipality of Bolungarvíkurkaupstaður in the northwest of Iceland, located on the Westfjords peninsula, approximately from the town of Ísafjörður and from the capital city Reykjavík. Bolungarvík is close to abundant fishing grounds and has been used as an outpost for fishing since the 17th century, making it one of the earliest in Iceland. The village was not accessible by road until 1950, and in 2010 the Bolungarvíkurgöng tunnel was opened under the Óshlíð mountain to bypass the old road, which was frequently subject to avalanches and rock falls. Jón Halldór Oddsson (born 25 January 1958) is an Icelandic former multi-sport athlete. He was a member of both the Icelandic men's national football team and the Icelandic track and field national team. Andri Rúnar Bjarnason
Andri Rúnar Bjarnason (born 12 November 1990) is an Icelandic professional footballer who plays as a forward for Stjarnan. In 2017, he tied the Besta deild karla single season goal record with 19 goals. The following year, he debuted for the Iceland national team. Guðjón Þórðarson (; born 14 September 1955), known in the United Kingdom as Gudjon Thordarson, is an Icelandic football manager and former player. The Vestri men's football team, commonly known as Vestri, is the men's football department of the Íþróttafélagið Vestri multi-sport club and is based in Ísafjarðarbær, Iceland. As of 2024, it plays in the Icelandic top-tier Besta deild karla. History The club was founded in 1986 as the football department of ''Badmintonfélag Ísafjarðar'', or BÍ for short.
