''Un-Sentimental'' is the third album by Beowülf, released in 1993. It is the only official Beowülf album to be released under the band name BWF. Beowülf
Beowülf is an American crossover thrash metal band formed in Venice Beach, California, in 1981 by Michael Alvarado, Dale Henderson, Mike Jensen and Paul Yamada. The group never gained a large mainstream success, but is considered one of the first bands that defined the "Venice Scene" in the 1980s, along with Suicidal Tendencies, Los Cycos, Neighborhood Watch, No Mercy, Excel and Uncle Slam, who all played a mix of skate punk, hardcore, heavy metal and thrash. As of 2011, Beowülf has released six studio albums. They split up in 1995, but reformed in 2000. The band has had numerous line-up changes and Henderson has been the only constant member. Eldorado Recording Studios
Eldorado Recording Studios is a recording studio in Burbank, California originally established in 1954 at the corner of Hollywood and Vine as a workshop for Johnny Otis. In 1987, following damage the building sustained from numerous earthquakes, Eldorado moved to the late Marvin Gaye's former studio on Sunset Boulevard, where many albums were recorded during the alternative rock and grunge-era (1989 to 1996). In 1996, the studio then relocated to its current Burbank facilities which were designed and built from the ground up by Steven Klein. ''Westminster & 5th'' was released in 2007 and is the fifth studio album by American crossover thrash band Beowülf and the first since ''2¢'' (1995) and the subsequent hiatus of the band. The sound and playing on ''Westminster & 5th'' is reminiscent of Beowülf's first two albums: ''Beowülf'' (1986) and '' Lost My Head...'' (1988). Background Since its inception, Beowülf's only constant member has been Dale Henderson and he is joined on this album by Rich Rowan, Kevin Sullivan and Stefan Crapia. Rowan and Sullivan were a part of the Beowülf line-up for ''Un-Sentimental'' (1993). They rejoined Henderson in the band Kool-Whip after Beowülf broke up in 1995. After performing for several years as Kool-Whip and notwithstanding some success, Henderson reverted to playing Beowülf songs. Dale Henderson
Dale Dwight Henderson (January 8, 1966 – May 13, 2025) was an American musician. He is best known as the frontman and guitarist of the crossover thrash band Beowülf where he was the only constant member. He composed the music and wrote the lyrics on all of Beowülf's albums. Biography Henderson's musical career began in 1980 with his first band Oblivion which also featured bassist Robert Trujillo from Metallica. Dale went on to form the band Black Sheep which would become Beowulf. The band consisted of former Neighborhood Watch guitarist Mike Jensen, Paul Yamada on bass and Roger DeGiacomi on drums (Mike Jensen’s cousin.) The band played many Venice parties and clubs throughout L.A. in 1981–1982 before DeGiacomi became the band manager and was replaced by Michael Alvarado on drums in 1983, changing the name of the band to Beowülf or BWF (The F being inverted) as they wrote it in Venice "graffiti slang". The Jesus movement was an evangelical Christian movement that began on the West Coast of the United States in the late 1960s and early 1970s and primarily spread throughout North America, Europe, Central America, Australia and New Zealand, before it subsided in the late 1980s. Members of the movement were called ''Jesus people'' or ''Jesus freaks''. Its predecessor, the charismatic movement, had already been in full swing for about a decade. ''Yarborough v. Alvarado'', 541 U.S. 652 (2004), is a United States Supreme Court case in which the Court declined to overturn a state court's conclusion that a minor was not in custody for ''Miranda'' purposes during his police interview. Michael Alvarado helped his friend Paul Soto steal a truck in Santa Fe Springs, California. The truck owner was killed by Soto during the robbery and Alvarado was convicted of second-degree murder for his role in the crime. The evidence for Alvarado's conviction was primarily based on statements given by Alvarado during a two-hour police interrogation that occurred when Alvarado's parents brought him to the police station. Thrashcore
Thrashcore (also known as fastcore) is a fast-tempo subgenre of hardcore punk that emerged in the early 1980s. Thrashcore is essentially sped-up hardcore, adopting a slightly more extreme style by means of its vocals, dissonance, and occasional use of blast beats. Songs are usually very brief, and thrashcore is in many ways a less dissonant, minimally metallic forerunner of grindcore. The genre is sometimes associated with the skateboarder subculture. Dennis Herring is an American record producer, engineer, mixer, and musician. Herring has produced for The Hives, Elvis Costello, Counting Crows, Modest Mouse, Camper Van Beethoven, and Jars of Clay. Restless Records
Restless Records was started in El Segundo, California in 1986 by Enigma Records and primarily released alternative, metal and punk records. Restless also licensed and released records from Bar/None Records, Metal Blade Records and Mute Records. And Restless had a fully owned subsidiary Pink Dust Records. In 1991 Restless and a number of Enigma Records titles were acquired by Bill Hein and Joe Regis and re-launched in Hollywood, California. In 1992, Restless acquired the Twin/Tone Records label and classic titles by such artists as The Replacements, Soul Asylum, The Jayhawks and Ween.
