A3 Basket is a women's basketball club in Umeå, Sweden. The club was established with the 2012 squad from KFUM Umeå women's basketball section "Umeå Comets" after the club had decided to discontinue their women's team. A new club was formed under the name Umeå BasketBollklubb (Umeå BBK). Debuting in Basketligan dam during the 2012–13 season, the team ended up fifth and made it to the semifinals, before losing to the Norrköping Dolphins The Norrköping Dolphins are a professional basketball club from Norrköping, Sweden. Svenska Basketligan, or the Swedish Basketball League (SBL), is the premier league for professional basketball in Sweden. The league was originally established in 1992 as Basketligan and was known as that prior to the season of 2006–07, but when the Swedish company Obol Investment signed an agreement with the Swedish Basketball Federation in early October 2006, the league was renamed Obol Basketball League (OBL). In January 2007 the name was changed to Ligan, meaning simply the League. History On October 6, 2006, the Swedish Basketball Federation signed a 15-year agreement with Swiss company Obol Investment. 2015–16 Basketligan Season
The 2015–16 Basketligan season was the 23rd season of the Basketligan, the top tier basketball league on Sweden. The season started on 15 October 2015 and ended on 28 April 2016. Södertälje Kings was the defending champion, and successfully reclaimed its title. In the Finals, Södertalje had a clean sweep over Norrköping 4–0 to capture its 11th title. Competition format The participating teams first play a conventional round-robin schedule with every team playing each opponent three times for a total of 30 games.
