Uma Chetry
Uma Chetry (born 27 July 2002) is an Indian cricketer. She currently plays for Assam as a wicket-keeper. She was part of the India squad that won the gold medal at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. She became the first women's cricketer from Assam and also the first female cricketer from Northeast India to be called up to the India national squad and made her debut on 7 July 2024 against South Africa. Early life Chetry hails from Kandulimari village in Bokakhat division of Golaghat district, Assam. Her mother encouraged her to play cricket when she saw Chetry playing on the roads along with her brother Bijoy Chetri and other boys. She is the only girl among the five siblings. Bokakhat
Bokakhat ( ) is a town in Assam and a Municipality Board in Golaghat district in the state of Assam, India. It is about 23 km away from the world heritage site Kaziranga National Park. The South Africa women's cricket team toured India in June and July 2024 to play the India women's cricket team. A women's cricket event was held as part of the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China from 19 to 25 September 2023. Nine teams took part in the event, and the participating teams were seeded according to their T20I rankings as of 1 June 2023. Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets in the bronze medal match. India won the gold medal in the event by defeating Sri Lanka, who won the silver medal in the final. 2023 ACC Women's T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup
The 2023 ACC Women's T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup was the inaugural edition of the ACC Women's T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup played in Hong Kong in June 2023, with all the matches held at the Mission Road Ground in Kowloon. Eight teams took part in the tournament, including the A teams of four nations with ODI status and the next four top associate teams. The tournament was organized by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). 7 of the scheduled 12 matches in the first round of the tournament were rained out. Only two teams – Malaysia and United Arab Emirates – were able to play more than one match, and the match between those two teams was also reduced to 5 overs.
