Ulf, or Ulv is a masculine name common in Scandinavia and Germany. It derives from the Old Norse word for "wolf" (''úlfr'', see Wulf). The oldest written record of the name's occurrence in Sweden is from a runestone of the 11th century. The female form is Ylva. Ulf Fase
Ulf Fase (died 1247) was the jarl of Sweden from until his death in 1247. Biography Ulf Fase was probably the son of jarl Karl the Deaf (''Karl Döve'') and member the House of Folkung (''Folkungaätten''). After jarl Karl had been killed during the Swedish attack against Estonians at the Battle of Lihula in 1220, Ulf as his closest relative was soon selected as the new jarl. An ephemeral jarl may have served briefly before Ulf's appointment. Before the death of King Johan Sverkersson of Sweden in 1222, Ulf certainly held the office. In 1222, the rival dynasty's young heir, King Erik Eriksson ascended the throne at the age of 6. His minority meant that Jarl Ulf gained more importance along with Knut Långe. The nominal regent was Ulf's cousin Bengt Birgersson. In 1229, Knut Långe usurped the throne and exiled the young Erik. Ulf continued to hold the position of jarl. Ulf Lönnqvist
Ulf Lönnqvist (26 June 1936 – 24 June 2022) was a Swedish social democratic politician who held several government posts and was a member of the Swedish Parliament. Biography Lönnqvist was born in Malmö on 26 June 1936. He was a graduate of Lund University. Following his graduation Lönnqvist moved to Tyresö to work at the department of chancellor. He served at the Parliament for the Social Democratic Party between 1985 and 1992. He was appointed minister of sports, youth and tourism in 1986 and remained in the post until 1989. Ulf Harald Linde (15 April 1929 – 12 October 2013) was a Swedish art critic, writer, jazz musician, museum director and a member of the Swedish Academy. Biography Linde was born in the Östermalm district of Stockholm. Interested in jazz music from a young age, he started playing the trumpet in the late 1940s, but soon switched to vibraphone. Between 1948 and 1952 he played in the groups of Thore Jederby and Simon Brehm, and recorded together with musicians such as Arne Domnérus, Bengt Hallberg, and James Moody, as well as with groups led by himself. After his musical career ended, Linde worked as an art critic for ''Dagens Nyheter'' between 1956 and 1968, then as a professor at the Royal Institute of Art until 1975, as chief curator at Moderna Museet in Stockholm from 1973 to 1976, and as director of the Thiel Gallery in Stockholm from 1977 to 1997. Ulf Larsson
Ulf Sigfrid "Uffe" Larsson (1 July 1956 – 28 September 2009) was a Swedish actor, revue artist, comedian and stage director. Ulf Larsson was born in Bromma, Stockholm, in 1956. In the early 1980s, he appeared in numerous television shows and stage productions. In the 1980s he also became well known by children in the ''Bröderna Olsson'' ("Olsson brothers"), and in ''Kusiner i kubik'' ("cousins cubed"), and told stories in ''Pratmakarna'' ("the talkers"). His real breakthrough, however, came as he hosted the popular entertainment-show ''Söndagsöppet'' ("open on Sunday"). Ulf Kortesniemi (born 28 March 1966) is a Finnish former football player who played as a goalkeeper. During his career, he made 27 total appearances in Finnish top-tier Veikkausliiga for Jaro and VPS. Ulf Kirsten (born 4 December 1965) is a German former professional footballer who played as a striker. Nicknamed ''Der Schwatte'' (dialect for ''Der Schwarze'', 'The Black One'), he is the first player in history to reach a total 100 caps playing with two different national teams (first for East Germany, then Reunified Germany). Ulf Hjalmar Kristersson (; born 29 December 1963) is a Swedish politician who has served as the Prime Minister of Sweden, prime minister of Sweden since 2022.
