UW–Green Bay Phoenix
The Green Bay Phoenix, previously known as the UW–Green Bay Phoenix and UWGB Phoenix, are the athletic teams of the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. A total of 14 Phoenix athletic teams compete in the Horizon League of NCAA Division I. The school does not sponsor an American football team. Teams A member of the Horizon League, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay sponsors teams in six men's and eight women's sports. Men's basketball The men's basketball team has appeared in the NCAA Tournament five times, most recently in 2016. Women's basketball During the 2008/09-2012/13 seasons, the Green Bay women's basketball team had the third highest winning-percentage in the NCAA Division I with a 175–21 mark trailing only Connecticut and Stanford. The Phoenix has the fifth-most wins in Division I during that same stretch. Horizon League
The Horizon League is a collegiate List of NCAA conferences, athletic conference in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) NCAA Division I, Division I. Headquartered in Indianapolis, the league's eleven member schools are located in and near the Great Lakes region and in part of the Southern United States. The Horizon League founded in 1979 as the Midwestern City Conference. The conference changed its name to Midwestern Collegiate Conference in 1985 and then the Horizon League in 2001. The conference started with a membership of six teams and has fluctuated in size with 24 different schools as members at different times. The league currently has 11 members. Keifer Jerail Sykes (born December 30, 1993) is an American professional basketball player for Legia Warsaw of the Polish Basketball League (PLK). He played college basketball for the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. Jeff Wallace Nordgaard (born February 23, 1973) is an American-born naturalized Polish former professional basketball player. Early life Nordgaard's father, John Nordgaard, was a biology teacher and guidance counselor at Dawson-Boyd High School and at one time its head basketball coach. Alec Thomas Brown (born July 23, 1992) is an American professional basketball player for Taoyuan Pauian Pilots of the P. League+. He played college basketball at the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. Brown was drafted 50th overall in the 2014 NBA draft by the Phoenix Suns, though he never appeared in a game with the team.
