State Road 130 in the U.S. state of Indiana is a short, road that connects Lake Station with Valparaiso to the southeast. Route description State Road 130 runs 7.9 miles (17.9 km) from State Road 149 near Valparaiso to U.S. Route 6 and State Road 51 in Hobart. This highway mainly follows a major rail line for its entire length. It formerly followed Lincoln Way (sometimes spelled "Lincolnway") for its entire length in Valparaiso, except south of LaPorte Avenue, where it was called Sturdy Road. State Road 51 in the U.S. state of Indiana is a north–south route on the state highway system in northwest Indiana. It consists of a route long from a point on U.S. Route 30 (Lincoln Highway) east of Merrillville and west of Valparaiso, north to U.S. Route 20 in Gary. Immediately north of US 30, the highway is signed as the Adam Benjamin Highway. Route description SR 51 travels north on Lake Park Avenue from US 30, crossing Old Lincoln Highway and the mainline of the Canadian National Railway in the former town of Ainsworth before turning east on 10th Street in Hobart. Hobart, Indiana
Hobart ( , ) is a city in Lake County, Indiana, United States. The population was 29,752 at the 2020 census, up from 29,059 in 2010. It has been historically primarily residential, though recent annexation has added a notable retail corridor to the city. History Hobart was platted in 1849. George Earle, an English immigrant, bought land from the Potawatomi Native American tribe, who built a dam on Deep River, creating Lake George. He named the settlement that later developed into Hobart, after his brother, Frederick Hobart Earle, who never left England. The first school of the city was built in 1878. Hobart was incorporated as a town in 1889 and reincorporated as a city in 1921.
